2018 B1G Baseball Tourney @ Omaha, NB (Official Thread)

Baseball Buckeyes head to Omaha for Big Ten Tournament

Ohio State enters the Big Ten Baseball Tournament on Wednesday in Omaha, Neb., with an RPI ranking of No. 41, putting the Buckeyes squarely on the bubble to make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team.

Of course, if OSU wins the eight-team Big Ten tourney (only the top eight teams qualify, out of 13 conference programs), it won't have to worry about an at-large bid, because the Buckeyes would be an automatic qualifier for the NCAAs in that scenario.

Ohio State (34-20, 14-10 Big Ten) is the No. 7 seed, and will open play against No. 2-seeded Purdue (34-18, 17-6) at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Here is the release from OSU:

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 7 seed Buckeyes face the No. 2 seed Boilermakers in the second game of the opening round of the 2018 Big Ten Tournament at 2 p.m. ET Wednesday from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., live on BTN. Led by head coach Greg Beals, the Scarlet and Gray have advanced to the tournament seven times in eight years.

The Buckeyes (34-20, 14-10 B1G), who took two of three games vs. Purdue (34-18, 17-6 B1G) to close the home schedule two weeks ago, currently stand at No. 41 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings released Sunday. The Scarlet and Gray return to TD Ameritrade Park for the first time since claiming the 2016 tournament crown. The 2016 squad won four straight games through the loser’s bracket to claim the title last time in Omaha. The Buckeyes are tied with Minnesota and Michigan for the league-lead in tournament titles with nine championships. The winner of the Big Ten Tournament will receive an automatic qualification for the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

Bucks take on Purdooh tomm at 2pm EST. Bucks took 2/3 vs Purdooh at home just a week and a half ago. Our pitching depth will be tested that's for sure

Gotta stay in the winners bracket as long as possible to have any shot...unless the bats go nuts. Not developing a fourth starter again this year really limits there ability to make a run. If I'm Beals, I hold nothing back. Manage pitching today like there's no tomorrow.
