Ohio State spring game 2018: Date, time, TV channel, preview

Ohio State spring game 2018: Preview

QUARTERBACKS — This will mark the first spring game since 2012 without J.T. Barrett on the roster. The game should offer a showcase for quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins, Joe Burrow and Tate Martell as they look to become the Buckeyes’ next starting quarterback. Class of 2018 signee Matthew Baldwin won’t be participating because of a knee injury sustained at the end of his high school career.

KICK RETURNS — Demario McCall’s potential has captured the interest of Buckeyes fans from the moment he arrived, and the spring game could finally be a chance for him to show what he can do. The Buckeyes have been using him on punt returns and kickoff returns in practice, and he’ll likely get a chance to show what he can do in front of a big crowd.

PLENTY OF STARS — With so many skill position players returning, the Buckeyes should have plenty of talent out on the field. And with young players often getting key reps, the spring game should offer a good chance for fans to not only see established playmakers but also the stars of the future.

REDUCED CAPACITY — Because of construction on the west side of Ohio Stadium, the stadium won’t be at full capacity for the spring game. Ohio State’s spring game attendance eclipsed 100,000 in 2017 and nearly did so in 2016, but the capacity will be closer to 80,000 for this year’s game.

Some of Ohio State’s greatest recent players and top current NFL players are scheduled to be among more than 25 former Buckeyes in attendance for Saturday’s spring game at Ohio Stadium.

In addition to Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier and Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who will serve as honorary coaches for Saturday’s game, other former Buckeyes now playing in the NFL who are scheduled to attend Saturday’s game include New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas and cornerback Marshon Lattimore, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Joshua Perry and safety Malik Hooker and Jacksonville Jaguars guard Andrew Norwell, who recently became the highest-paid guard in the NFL.

Additionally, nearly all of Ohio State’s seniors or early NFL draft entrants from last season are scheduled to be in attendance. J.T. Barrett, Billy Price, Chris Worley, Sam Hubbard, Jalyn Holmes, Tracy Sprinkle, Denzel Ward, Trevon Forte, Cin’Quan Haney, Michael Hill, Damon Webb, Clay Raterman, Jackson Hayes, Elijaah Goins, Erick Smith, Zach Turnure, Marcus Baugh and Jamarco Jones will all be back in the Shoe on Saturday and recognized for their accomplishments last season.

Shows you though how Buckeye fans are nothing but fair weather fans. The weather is going to be awful Saturday and ichigan and Wisconsin are playing their games but OSU canceled.

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer tweeted Thursday that Buckeyes fans should "stay tuned for more information about a potential change to the Spring Game start time."

    Entire article:

Fantastic weather in Columbus today; sunny, slightly windy, with a temperature of 74°. About the same is predicted for tomorrow. They should have played it today or rescheduled it for tomorrow.
