The Missouri loss still eats at me a bit. They have a former Illini and 3 other former Illini commits playing for them, they're not really worth a damn, but they ALWAYS play out of their mind against Illinois.


But this is looking like the team I thought we'd see from the beginning. My hope for this year was a winning record in B1G play and getting back to the NCAA Tournament. Off to a strong start there.

Pretty interesting graphic on FS1 that crystallizes how unusual this season is even for the B1G. There are 4 B1G teams currently with a top-50 NET rating that each haven't made the Big Dance in four or more years. IU is NET #50. The three in the graphic with the highest NET rankings all have missed in each season since 2013 or later - #31 Illinois last made it in '13, #29 PSU last in '11, and #20 Rutgers last in 1991.

Right there with you about the B1G. I've never really bought into the conference being particularly good. Part of me thinks the way the B1G refs call games fucks with opposing teams and they can never really recover. I was rewatching the UK-OSU game and 70% of the fouls in that game felt like they would've been no calls in B1G conference play. Wouldn't surprise me if all B1G teams got bounced after the Sweet 16.

That's been the knock since the 80s. Big Ten refs let them bang all year and then when they get into tightly called games in the tourney, they can't make the adjustment.
