GoFundMe donations spike for Stephen F. Austin's Nathan Bain after Duke upset

The biggest winner in the aftermath of Stephen F. Austin's shocking upset of No. 1 Duke might be the fundraising effort for the family of the player who hit the winning layup.

A thankful Nathan Bain was still in "disbelief" Wednesday -- about the contributions more than about his clutch basket.

Since the end of the game, the 2-month-old GoFundMe page set up to help Bain's family rebuild from Hurricane Dorian damage had raised more than $93,000 as of 8 p.m. ET Wednesday. It's a massive spike from the roughly $2,000 it had raised before Tuesday night's stunning result became the talk of college basketball.

The initial fundraising goal of $25,000 was increased to $50,000 -- only to have it, too, surpassed by early in the afternoon.

Bain said his family "lost everything inside" its single-story home in Freeport, Grand Bahama. His father Norris, a minister, runs the Tabernacle Baptist Church, which Nathan said has "a couple hundred" congregants and an affiliated K-12 school with an enrollment of about 800. Both suffered severe damage from the Category 5 storm that hammered the islands, with their home and the church "gutted."

A high double screen with a double roll out, one guy goes to each side of the bucket and you hit whichever one their big doesn't cover for an easy two..... because you're Duke and bigger and way more athletic down low. Perfect play.

Yeah, now watch the video of the inbound. ZERO discipline to run the play..... and an L.

This is what happens with the "one and done" mentality. No respect, no discipline, no execution...... and Duke might STILL reach the Final Four because, even though they're only barely coachable, these kids are just that gifted.

Since McGuire at Marquette, through Tark at UNLV, through Houston, NC State, Georgetown, KY, NC and Duke...... just recruit and wait until March. There hasn't been discipline in NCAA Basketball since John Wooden reined in Bill Walton.
/boomer rant off
