2019 Spring Practices, Game, and Tidbits

With White you could do football's version of basketball's Diamond and One...
Everyone plays a 'zone' but you assign White to one skill person and say "I wanna know what chewing gum he chews"
This could be any receiver, RB or even QB spy... as well as a blitzer
ie Sammy Watkins

I think he gets "coached up" and is better this year. But I think it will take me a while to get over White moving down to LBer.

White is NOT moving to LB. That tweet really left a lot of context out. White is a solid tackler and plays well in run support. There will be times this year when we take a LB off the field in obvious passing downs, and White essentially slides in as a LB. You give up a bit in size, and gap support, but you're adding a guy who can play better in space.

White will NOT be a full-time LB. In today's football, there are special situations all throughout a game. With today's analytics, it's incumbent on the coaching staff and team managers/consultants to know the percentage odds of each scenario and employ the best personnel in that moment. So yes, White is likely to play some hybrid LB, but his main position will continue to be in a SS capacity.

I worry when I see Teague is hurt already. Losing Snead hurt. Maybe this opens things for a freshman runner like Marcus Crowley or Steele Chambers. Crowley is already on campus for spring ball. Crowley played at a high level in Florida and is highly thought of.

Give it time, didn't Dobbins come to OSU injured and was healed by summer?

He was a sleeper because he was a 3-Star before winning that. He was underrated and we went in and found him.
Olave was a classic "sleeper". He had zero recognition. Was a 3 star.
How can you be a "sleeper" if you're "Florida Gatorade Player of the Year? You have to be a hell of a player to get that award. Just look at it's history.
2017 Lorenzo Lingard
2016 Shaun Wade

The point is that typically the FL PoY is a high-4 or 5 star guy and has been since at least the start of his junior year. Crowley snuck up on the experts and we swept in and stole him. I'm not down on the kid and I'm not just making shit up. Every article about him says the same thing. He was overlooked and had such a senior season that they had to give him the award. That's the kind of kid I want. Of course you have to be a hell of a player to win FL PoY.
