2019 tOSU Offense (Official Thread)

I think Baldwin will turn out to be a much better passer than Tate and with Days Offense I wouldn't be surprised if he got the nod. As we've seen, elite passers excel in Days Offense. However, Tate has a lot of things going for him. He's a excellent leader, he's a winner, he's tough as nails, he's a team player, he's a tremendous competitor and he is a much better runner than Baldwin.

I hope that they are both given an equal chance to win the job.

I think a lot of people are selling Tate short in the passing category, and righting him off as a JT clone. He doesn't have the arm strength of Haskins(few do), but he can put enough zip on the ball to get the ball to playmakers in this offense. And honestly that's all the QB needs to do in this offense. Whomever is the QB(my money is on Tate) will have weapons like: Olave, Mack, Victor, Hill(I think he leaves, but crazier things have happened and he still has eligibility), Ruckert, Berry, Babb, Harris, Smith, Gill and McCall(and that's without listing the RBs). You don't need a cannon for weapons like that who can create mismatches.

I believe they'll be given an equal chance with a new coach, and may the best man win

The only QB controversy we’ll have next year will be regarding the length of Tate’s stubble.

Tate will start; but Baldwin will light it up and make sure that fire is nice and toasty under Tate's bum. I will sing it to the heavens, Baldwin is going to blow people away when they see him live. The kids arm is legit, if he wasn't at a national mega power he would have been a 5*.

Tate, Baldwin, Fields? Yes, please.

I went back and watched Fields and Tate's highlights from HS. Tate is a player too. He isn't just going to hand over that position. I still don't get where people think he can't throw it. Go watch his highlights again and tell me he doesn't have a gun.

he just hasn't been given the opportunity other than the 1 game he went 10 for 10. I think Day's offense, and the weapons these QB's will have at their disposal will make them all successful regardless of who starts.

So, though I would certainly be sad to see Tate leave if we land Fields, fully understand if he does, I think tOSU will be fine either way.

Tate could be a Baker Mayfield type of player for us. We just haven't seen enough of him yet, so its hard to tell. Regardless, I think we win whether its Tate, Matthew or Justin.
Bingo
The Buckeyes win regardless of who wins that QB battle. I would love Fields to come to OSU, but I'm not ready to just think that he'll automatically beat out Tate. Tate is a gamer, comes from one of the best HS football programs in the country, he's been competing on a bigger stage than most recruits in the nation since 9th grade. I don't see him conceding an inch to Field, and I can easily envision him already seeing himself in the starting role and picturing how the offense will look with him at the helm. Let them all go in the ring and duke it out for the spot and they'll all come out better for it

If Day had any confidence in Tate he wouldn't be bringing Fields in....

I don't believe that to be true. They want 4 QB's on scholarship at all times. Top that off with looosing a QB in this cycle on early signing day. And you don't pass on a talent like Fields even if you like what you have in Tate. If not Fields, they are going to bring someone else in via the grad transfer route.
