2019 tOSU offense thread

Williams appears to be a burner, but being a true frosh and our depth probably wont see the field much. Jalen Marshall actually wasn't very fast, I think he ran a pedestrian 4.65 at the combine.

I like our guys in Zone 6 this coming year. We have a great mix of sure hands across the middle in traffic - Hill & Saunders & Babb- to size - Ben & Harris - speed - Olave & Gill- a little of everything in Mack.

I think this is the best all-around group we've had going into a spring since Urban got here. There's less experience than some other years, but I think we now have the luxury of better talent overall, the group got to see last year what the standard should (will?) be going forward, and they have an outstanding coach who turned the last group from relative under-achievers to likely/potential NFL-ers. What I really hope to see continue is the hands of these guys. Last year's crew caught damn near everything and, while that was certainly due in part to Haskins' ball placement relative to JTB's (somewhere near you, but almost never in stride placement), the year before they couldn't catch a cold.

I think the WR coaching helped immensely. It shouldn’t be seen as a coincidence that Zone 6 had their most productive year under Hartlines tutelage

Interesting discussion in that the new offensive co-ordinator/QB coach (Yurcich) likes the deep ball!

To re-visit my post in the Yurcich thread, the above post illustrates the argument we were making with Grinch last year (which didn't work out so well) and Yurcich now; if he can do that with a mid-grade qb and receiver, he should be able to go ham here this season. If we don't try to do too much, too soon, this offense should be sick.

We are all forgetting CJ Saunders as well. May have the best hands on the team and brings a lot of experience to the table. And totally agree with the comment about McCall eating up the LB's.

Hartline seems to be pretty high on Saunders so he should get some decent minutes this year.

With Urban you had to block to get on the field... maybe we will be a little more lenient this year?

I hope not. But I think Saunders is a good fit for us.

Kind of forgot about Saunders, thought he was a senior for some reason. With the openings at the WR position, I would expect to see CJ get much more PT.

I thought for sure we would see a lot of Saunders last year.........but it never materialized? Maybe he was hurt or maybe the competition was just that good? Or both? There are guys who are gonna get squeezed out this year at WR because the competition will be so high. And maybe Ruckert and the TEs get targeted more. Hartline is talking up Harris as someone who will take reps away from a guy who played a lot last year.

He got ringed up and was out for a while. Forgot which game it happened, but looked like concussion protocol being followed.

cincibuck You kids stay off my lawn!

I was a freshman in 61, Warfield’s first year. Yeah, the Bucks played smash mouth football and truth be told, the kid couldn’t catch a cold even when Mummy or Sparma put the ball right in his numbers. By his senior year it was evident that he had pro level ability. In his class, Woody told us that at the end of his first season he called Paul into his office and handed him a football,”I want that in your hands everywhere you go. When you walk to class you throw that ball up in the air and catch it. Don’t let me catch you on the oval without that ball.” The rest is history.
