2019 Week 3 CFB Open Thread

The ability of Ohio State to get into the CFB Playoff against the ESPiN bias depends not only on winning out but a bit of help from the B1G. Yesterday was a trainsmash of note. The B1G will go from nearly #1 on all of the computers to 3rd or even lower. That puts a real dent in the "we played a tough conference schedule" talk. Ohio State winning out is not guaranteed but holy smokes, what a bloody let down.

If we have 1 loss and ND has 1 loss why would they get in??? We have a much tougher schedule than them.
Simple - media - tradition

But how can that be when Ohio State has clearly been the better program for the last 20 years?

Simple - media - tradition - the media loves the ND market and lives in the world of Knute, Ara, and the first few years of Lou.

wo spots left...ND loses to Georgia but beats scUM and wins the rest of their games, they're in. Oklahoma rolls through the Big XII undefeated, they're in. Guess where that leaves us? Go undefeated, or go to a bowl game then go home.

Agree with the go undefeated or go home part for OSU

Disagree on the 1 loss ND scenario. I think that 1 loss UGA (or whatever 1 loss SEC team not named Bama) is the one to go.

Just my .02 but who really gives a fuck? It's 13-0 or bust for OSU

"Great wins" aren't nearly as important as fans think they are these days. So called "style points" mean little.

Alabama goes undefeated or has one loss, they're in the playoff. The same is true of Clemson no matter how much the ACC sucks.

Here's a scenario for you....

Clemson goes undefeated
Notre Dame goes undefeated
Oklahoma goes undefeated
Georgia loses one game (to Notre Dame)
Alabama loses one game (to Georgia in CCG)
Louisiana State loses one game (to Alabama)
Ohio State goes undefeated, best win is Wisconsin (twice)

Guess where Ohio State finishes in the rankings? I'd say #7....

That doesn't work against us though because we draw the most eyes.

ND will get in if they have less loses than us but that's it. If we both have 1 loss and ND loses it's only difficult game to UGA they will not get in.

We haven't gotten the benefit of the doubt for 2 years because we've gotten boat raced by unranked teams.

Not because we are less of a program or some weird vendetta

What's wrong with you guys?

If we go undefeated we are in and we will be ranked #2 behind Clemson.

I only regret I couldn’t work in; concussion, consequence, confabulation, confusion, consternation or contractual obligation.:biggrin2:

As the quarterback careens across their field of view, concerned looks cross the faces of many onlookers as they consider the upcoming collision while calculating his collection of multiple contusions and the inescapable collapse of his crumpled coccyx.

Consternation is the other emotion of consequence in the crowd as they consider the consequences of the cerebral trauma that come with a concussion, including confusion, cognitive dissonance and, if severe enough, the inability to enter into a contractual obligation due to mental imbecility.

How's that?
