2020 Team Discussion Thread

Glad he isn’t so close minded with taking all of the play calling on. Doesn’t strike me as an overly prideful guy and I’m just glad he’s open enough to the thought if he thinks there’s benefits to it situationally or something.

Think Wilson has been a criminally underrated assistant in his time here

I tell you one thing we will find out in week 2 just how good our offense can be. They have 8 returning starters and more than likely the best DE we will play all season. They do lose 3 of their front 7 though with one being their leading tackler. I wonder how fast their freshman LBs can make an impact in Flow and the other kid who's like 270lbs.

How do you all see that matchup? I just think our OL is just too good for them and there's just so many weapons at WR. I still think it'll be the toughest defense we play all year though.

Them losing 7 on offense though with basically their entire OL and their QB will make it awful tough against our defense. They dont really have any difference makers on offense and we have a ton on defense.

My thoughts are we will find out how the difference between JK Dobbins and his replacement affects the offense.

IMO, the 2019 offense was so difficult to defend because of the balance. Running, Passing, QB run game were all equally lethal and that's just impossible for any defense to contain.

What happens if/when a good defense can cheat a little more against pass and QB run because there isn't a game breaking threat at RB? Does that take the ceiling down from 50 yards and 45+ points? Is it more like 2018 and they are content to be pass happy? Does Fields get hurt trying to compensate for the reduced threat in the RB run game? Does Fields become Can Newton Jr and just take over/dominate? Probably lots of other scenario's I'm not thinking of right now.

We just won't know until we see it play out but I am leery of this "best offense ever" narrative based solely on talent at WR with a huge question mark at RB.
