No doubt that the WR talent is there but I think it's assuming quite a bit to think that's enough. The last two years running KJ Hill has been the QB's security blanket on 3rd down. His experience is what made him be able to read the defenses and run the proper route. We saw in the Fiesta Bowl that even the reasonably seasoned Olave had a problem with with.

IMO, I think the reason we shouldn't be too worried about it is more Ryan Day's ability to adjust the offense than the inexperienced talent we have. As the off season wears on though, the inevitable "best offense ever!!" hype train is going to get rolling and I'd seriously pump the brakes on that one. Yes we get a second year for Fields, yes the OL should be dominant and yes there is talent at all the receiver spots but we just don't know how much impact the loss of the second most productive running back and most prolific WR in OSU history, off the same team, is going to have.

As an aside to all that, it might not be completely crazy to see Ruckert used as a "big slot" kind of position. He's got the mismatch skill and experience if none of the younger WR's can pick up the position quick enough.
I'm no a fan of ever touting "best ever" anything. But this is going to be a damn good team, and OSU, Clemson and Bama have proved that they can simply reload their teams. When others would see a massive drop off from losing players as talented as Hill and Dobbins, I just don't see how OSU doesn't yet again make it to the CFP and is a force to win the NC. Like I've stated before to our fans and fans of other teams, an OSU off year is a NY6 Bowl win, every other year we should be in the CFP.

After the season I thought tOSU would be better on Offense because Fields would be better. That may be a little unrealistic. Hopefully he takes less sacks and takes a few more chances. Use the easier games to prepare for later in the year.

So I am Reminiscing over the same kind of conversations from the past ...
Who in the world and how will we Ever replace the production of Paris Campbell in the slot position of a Ryan Day offense.
So Buckeye braintrust announced, Introducing KJ Hill to the Buckeye slot position and performance racking up statistics as the all time Buckeye reception leader.
Now we ask, Who in the world could ever replace the best ever at OSU?
Count me as one who would love to see Garrett Wilson get a shot to step up and replace KJHill in the slot.
I am all over Wilson’s combination of speed, hands, vertical and shake in a Day attack plan.
Speculation 2 years from now will anticipate same recycled conversation.

No one is saying the offense won't be good.

Just opining that, with the losses from last year, opposing DCs might get to cheat a bit more this year. Day will adapt to the talent on hand, and that talent is formidable, but you'll be hard pressed to find as perfectly balanced offense again for a while. I can count on one hand the teams I would consider even close and that's going back about 30-35 years.

2020 offense will be great because of the OL, the QB, the coach and all the talent at WR. It just may be great in a different way than 2019. Maybe more one dimensional a la 2018.

Yeah, I think a dominant passing stack with heavy use and a serviceable run game is what’s in store. It’s almost impossible to envision Teague coming close to Dobbins’ production in 2019 but before the season started I didn’t think to myself “yeah dude he’s literally gonna become one of the top-2 running backs in school history.”

I think it’s more of a committee this year; I really, really hope Crowley can get some spring training reps and show his talent. I don’t think relying mostly on Teague will bode particularly well for the rush.

I also hope the focus is on Fields working on his release time and being more comfortable in the intermediate throwing game; I think with the downfield threats at wide out we see a lot of deep zone like Wisconsin threw at us (and it was damn effective) and combat it underneath. That’s more for in game adjustments though; just hope we have it in the arsenal. Always thought Gill could thrive underneath and murder defenses after the catch

When you return your QB, majority of the OL, top 5 back in the big ten, and your top WR you're bound to be very very good.

Imo we will be more explosive and we will do more.

Remember this is the first time Day will have a QB for more than 1 year.

I definitely think this is going to be the default choice at the beginning of spring practice and maybe the season. It will depend on how well Gill and maybe a few of the freshman adjust. Still have high hopes for Gill. Ruckert may never put up huge numbers in college (although I definitely think he could this year), but he is always going to stress a defense.

As for the rushing attack...I'm not sure what to think. I'm more optimistic than most based on the OL and also knowing Day will adapt the run game to whatever back wins the job. I still think Teague will do quite well, but the offense will probably initially be 60/40 pasing.
