2021 Fall Camp and Other Tidbits

NCAA proposal will reduce contact in preseason football camp

College football teams will be required to hold at least seven padless practices during the preseason and the number of contact practices will be reduced from 21 to 18 under changes proposed by the NCAA’s oversight committee Thursday.

The football oversight committee's proposal goes to the Division I Council for approval this month. It is expected to pass and go into effect next season.

The proposal also bans straight-line contact drills, such as the Oklahoma Drill; limits the amount of full contact in any practice to 75 minutes; prohibits more than two consecutive days of full-contact practices; and reduces the number of preseason scrimmages from three to two.

If this won't make you want to break away from the NCAA and do your own thing, I don't know what will. I think from a team's own prerogative, you might implement these measures at certain times to preserve players. But to mandate it? Sorry but fuck that. Pussification to the max and you are only setting players up for injury and failure when game time comes. 7 on 7 indeed...

Buckeyes open as massive favorites to defend B1G crown
Ohio State has won four-straight Big Ten titles.

Oddsmakers don’t believe that streak will end this season. The folks at BetOnline.ag have set the odds to win the Big Ten this upcoming fall, and the Buckeyes are heavily favored to repeat yet again. Their odds currently sit at 2/3 to win the conference crown, likely meaning a return to the College Football Playoff.

Wisconsin has the second-best odds at 8/1 to win the league. The Badgers are followed by Michigan and Penn State, which both sit now with 17/2 odds to win the conference. Iowa rounds out the top five with 11/1 odds to take home a league championship.

Only a sith deals in absolutes. Maybe there's some middle ground between flag football and spearing somebody's face with the crown of a helmet.

Right? I mean, what if it's a tsun player on the wrong end of the face spearing thing? Someone going to stand there and tell me that's all bad?

Will be flying to Minneapolis for the opener, one of my best friends lives there and I'm beyond itching to get into a stadium and watch the Buckeyes live. And will be super fun on a Thursday night game, then hit Minneapolis downtown the next couple nights (if race riots don't burn it down first).
I live in Minnesota also... there's definitely parts to avoid now but otherwise near TCF Bank and downtown should be good to go.

Btw too many are sleeping on this first game. They have Ibrahim back, Morgan back, their OL should be one of the best we face and they have a fairly capable WR core. I don't expect a blowout and I think a lot of us will be nervous going into week 2. I'm thinking a 49-35 type of score.

What’s been impressive about this home winning streak for Ohio State is that the Buckeyes don’t just win at home. Oftentimes, opposing teams get demoralized when playing in Ohio Stadium, and that includes some of the Buckeyes’ biggest rivals. Ohio State hasn’t dropped a game in Columbus since Baker Mayfield planted Oklahoam’s flag at midfield in 2017. Apparently, the Buckeyes took that personally because they’ve been money at home ever since. With both Oregon and Penn State coming to Columbus in 2021, the Buckeyes will have to earn it if they want to extend the streak.

Other notable teams:

4. CINCINNATI BEARCATS | 20 GAMES

10. MIAMI REDHAWKS | 9 GAMES

Good to know, that's what I figured. My buddy grew up there though, so I don't think he'll take me where I shouldn't go. But it'll be fun to tailgate there before it gets too cold, never been to Minneapolis.

I'm with you 100% though, Minnesota has a very solid team coming back and have recruited relatively well. Throw in a night game on the road and breaking in a new QB? Could be tougher than many think.

There are people seriously sleeping on Minny? We have a new QB, and unsettled RB depth, and multiple new OL starters, not to mention how is our back 7 going to handle so many new starters and a full offseason. Minny will certainly be a massive test
