Ok and I understand that... my point? He makes 5mil at OSU now and then signs for 25m guaranteed as the #1 pick. He made the correct decision with what he knew... but I guarantee you if he stays he makes more.

Now you don't know what happens. For all we know he blows his knee out bad game 1 vs Minnesota had he stayed and never plays again. So again he had to go but if he was guaranteed to stay healthy (along with knowing he wasnt top 10 in 2021) he could've stayed.

QB Trevor Lawrence signs $36.8 million rookie contract with Jacksonville Jaguars

Just sayin': The #1 pick next year will probably get at least a guaranteed $37M.

1. Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes must replace two very good linemen in right guard Wyatt Davis and center Josh Myers, both of whom were All-Big Ten first-teamers. Ohio State returns its two starting tackles. Left tackle Thayer Munford was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection last year and right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere was a second-teamer. Together they are the best tackle tandem in the nation. This is Munford’s fourth year as OSU’s starting left tackle. Left guard Harry Miller returns, but he has been labeled the center of the future and the future may be now. Sophomore Paris Johnson played right guard this spring and was the No. 1 offensive line recruit in the 2020 class. He is expected to be more than fine. The fifth starting spot will come down to fourth-year junior Matthew Jones and redshirt freshman Luke Wypler, which could also possibly involve keeping Miller at left guard. The Buckeyes averaged 6 yards per carry last year (third nationally).

Justin Fields, 'coach' for a day, opines on OSU quarterback battle and his college career

'Trust the process': Fields offers advice to quarterbacks

While Fields gets ready to challenge former Bengal Andy Dalton for the Bears quarterback job, he’s well aware of the competition to be his successor at Ohio State.

Redshirt freshmen C.J. Stroud and Jack Miller were his backups last year. True freshman Kyle McCord also is competing to earn coach Ryan Day’s anointment.

“I know coach Day is going to have a tough decision when he's choosing his starting quarterback,” Fields said. “They're all great, so it should be fun.

“C.J., he has a big body (and) strong arm. Jack, he throws a great ball. I haven't seen much of Kyle, of course, because I wasn't here with Kyle. But I've heard he's a hard worker. I've heard he's a dawg. So I'm excited for all of them.”

Day has preached the importance of the quarterbacks focusing on continuous improvement, not where they stand in the competition. Fields had similar advice.

“Just trust the process,” he said. “Control what they can and keep working. No matter who wins the starting job, anything can happen. It takes one play for them to be the guy up next.”
