Sure, everything is in play here. I didn't say or think any differently.
Gotcha

I think the perfect scenario is Stroud starts for the next 2yrs, McCord starts for one and then Ewers takes over.
But there's also a very real scenario where McCord stays more than 1 year and beats out Ewers, and Ewers has a business decision to make. Because from what everyone's been talking about, McCord has a real shot as starting as a true frosh(probably not happening), which in itself is a very big deal. In the end, OSU wins, because whomever is the starting QB has immense talent and has immense talent around them

No doubt, it's a good problem to have and not one I ever would've dreamed we'd see until very recently. Another scenario is 2-2-2 which would require patience and buy-in from some really talented kids, but that's certainly possible under Day & Co.

I think my original post was motivated by McCord being better-earlier than I'd thought he'd be. My expectation was that while he'd said he'd be here to compete, etc, that he knew he'd be sitting and learning for awhile. That's clearly not the case. McCord is/will be by fall good enough to start and he knows it. If CJS was two years ahead of him, I don't think it's an issue, but I'm not sure that McCord will want to or should sit for two years if he doesn't win the gig.

I think it's time for Ryan Day to unveil the 2 QB offense he's been working on for the last 5 years.

The adage is: if you have two quarterbacks, you have none. Yeah, Urban Meyer did win a National Championship in 2006 using both Chris Leak and Tim Tebow but that's a rarity. See interesting article on Stanley Jackson's take on the issue:

Stanley Jackson reflects on Ohio State's two-QB system in '90s, talks J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones: 'It can bite you'

Stanley Jackson looks back at Ohio State's 1996 season and sees a missed opportunity.

If only John Cooper would have gone with one quarterback -- not two -- the Buckeyes would have another national championship banner hanging in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

"I think we would have won it all if he would have picked either guy and stuck with him," Jackson told Northeast Ohio Media Group on Monday evening. "If Coach Cooper would've gone with Joe (Germaine) earlier in the year, by the end of the year he would've been playing much better than he did in that Michigan game. There's no question in my mind he would've won that game.

"And, of course, I am confident in my abilities. If think we would have won it if I were the guy full-time, too."

Last years Offense was always going to be Justin Fields or bust. There was going to be no chance at making the CFP Title game without him.

This year, there will always be the spectre of guys in waiting that can more than do the job. It's a completely mindset for all of them so we're going to see who can handle the pressure with leading a National Championship caliber team.

I've been thinking up a diamond formation too. QB1 at shotgun, QB2 at the TG2 spot, QB3 out wide, QB4 at RB. Might have to get rid of some OL so they have someone to throw to.

What if the entire offense started out lined up straight back from the center...call it "the train" formation or something. Oh. wait..............

Yeah I think that is the perfect scenario for sure.

Also, not said is the Bucks get big leads these next 2 seasons and McCord gets a lot of valuable minutes. So when he steps in as the starter he’s already played a bunch.

Guess whose idea it was:

“The (offensive) coaches came into a meeting one day earlier this week, all with a big smirk on their face, so we knew something was going in that they liked and it happened to be that play,” Speight said.

Was it offensive coordinator Tim Drevno’s idea? Maybe quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch’s? Or did it come from the top, another brainchild of the ever-creative Jim Harbaugh?

None of the above.

“Just something that my son Jay found and came up with,” Harbaugh said.

Jay Harbaugh, 27, is Michigan’s tight ends coach.

“But it was good, the guys had fun with it,” Harbaugh continued. “We put it in this week and executed it well.”

And he probably drew it up with a crayon too.....

“I think it’s going good so far,” Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa said in the spring. “A lot of guys getting reps. Matt Jones and Luke [Wypler] are getting the majority of the reps at the center position right now, but Jakob James is getting some too, as a young guy. Those three, all three of those guys are doing pretty well in there so far and handling things pretty good.”

Of course, the fourth option is Harry Miller, a third-year player who started at guard last season and was the front-runner for the center spot until he missed all spring. He’ll be healthy for camp and ready to show why he’s the man to beat out for the center job.
