Don't stop with Schlissel! Bring back St Bill Martin!!! It's the right thing to do.

I hear trumpets playing and angles singing.

Every single time I see or hear the name of that magnificent sumbitch.

Ah, it's great to see the delusion is coursing through the wretched veins of _goblog again. 5 months ago, they were resigned to their fate as a chronically underachieving program that may be on the verge of total implosion. One anomaly of a season later, in which they were far, very far, from a juggernaut or even appearing like anything but a team that rode a veteran roster, a very "meh" schedule and a victory over a very flawed tOSU team to a playoff appearance and they're saying stupid shit like this:

Harbaugh is Harbaugh so he may indeed flit off to the NFL at a whim but it doesn't sound like it'll be because he feels like he can't compete at a high level. Michigan had the misfortune to run up against a generational Georgia team without the kind of flamethrower at QB you need to overcome that kind of opponent, but that's more an accident of timing than fate.
So, they only got their doors blown off because they ran up against a "generational" UGA team. Georgia was very good this year, but "generational?" Um, no. And do they think they would have beat any other playoff teams from the past 7 years? Maybe some of the OU teams, maybe UW, maybe/probably Notre Dame. Anybody else? Not bloody likely. Any of the Bammer, UGA, LSU, Clemson or tOSU teams would have pounded them relentlessly in similar fashion.

They had a good year and earned a playoff spot. But they were horribly underequipped at several spots to compete on a national level and the Jimmy's and the Joe's to change that aren't lining up to play up there. I particularly like the "flamethrower qb" comment, as if this was the ONE YEAR they didn't have an elite QB, damn the luck! They've ranged from the shits to mediocre at the position during Simple Jim's entire tenure. Accident of time. If only they had Jake Rudock! :slappy:
