WYNCOTE — There are some that probably wish he never even looked at a football.

And then there are others that are glad he does.

Wherever you stand in whether or not Jordan Longino should be playing football doesn’t matter. What matters is what Longino wants to do, plain and simple.

“I’ve always loved playing football and I’m really enjoying it,” Longino said. “So many of my friends are on the team and football was my first love. Some people wonder if I should play, but I’m having fun.”

The catch with Longino is that he’s a top-shelf basketball player. Ask him what colleges are looking at him in that sport and this list blows you away, Villanova, Virginia, Michigan, Indiana.

You get the idea, the 6-foot-5-inch junior can hoop a little. In fact, he went over 1,000 career points after just two seasons with the Patriots and is considered one of the state’s top players.

Ah, but there is also football.

Quick feet, a quicker mind, a rocket right arm.

“Jordan has all of the big-time college basketball programs all over him,” Germantown Academy football coach Matt Dence said. “But if you look at his film, you won’t find one Power Five football program that wouldn’t want him. He has everything they’re looking for. Just watch him play. He’s in total control, can make all the throws, and just has a tremendous understanding of the game.
