Hope he gets the 2 million up front. I am skeptical that Overtime Elite can afford to pay that kind of money to kids and have a sustainable business by generating social media clicks. Overtime Elite sounds like an XFL-lite type league to me, I would be worried that it folds quickly.

I hear you but, unfortunately for OSU, the sustainability of these G-League offers isn't going to matter to Dillon Mitchell if this is what he's being offered right now.

There is some question marks about the validity of the offer as the original tweet has been deleted. That said, I don't think it was fabricated out of nothing, so I'm prepared for some disappointment on this particular recruitment.

If Overtime Elite is going to offer Mitchell $2 million how much are they going to offer Bates and Duren or are they getting more from Memphis. I just have a hard time believing $2 million to Mitchell.

The thing is, the offer is only good if OE follows through on it completely and doesn't go broke. I just don't see that many fans attracted to a business where the teams don't matter, and obviously there are established basketball associations that people do care about much more than OE. Maybe it would work out for Dillon, but surely long-term I just don't think their business model works.

According to this article Tennecheat is the leader for Mitchell and here are their thoughts on what they would do to maximize how much he could get.

2022 forward Dillon Mitchell is highly regarded but most people probably didn’t see this coming: Elite Overtime has offered him $2 million.

Aside from some basic questions, like how EO can keep paying such high salaries without a meaningful gate, give this idea some thought:

    Mitchell should leverage this deal.

He’s likely considering several schools and Tennessee is seen as the favorite.

If we were advising Mitchell, and maybe indirectly we are, we’d tell him to not be in a rush.

What he should do is to publicly announce that he’ll go to Tennessee, or one or two other schools, if local businesses and perhaps some national ones too, can crowd source to raise more than $2 million.

As this competition cranks up, he could go to, say, Knoxville and set up an autograph show.

In a perfect world, all the finalists, or at least fans and interested parties, would engage in a bidding war and he’d make a lot more than $2 million.

If not, as long as he goes to college, he could consider transferring to another school where that fanbase might meet his asking price.

Re: Colleges (i.e. NIL money) vs Overtime Elite vs NBA G-League

Just sayin': There are a lot more (financial) options for the elite high school basketball players these days

Staff offered 2022 SF Brice Sensabaugh today and immediately made his Top 4.

I am posting that here because I think this is an indication of what they are feeling on Dillon Mitchell (i.e. not good). They've seen Sensabaugh play a lot this summer because he is on E1T1 with Mitchell and Thornton. I think they would have offered earlier when Sensabaugh started blowing up if they wanted both him and Mitchell in the class.

Concrete details have not been announced, but Overtime Elite’s official website states that the league will host 24-30 players and be headquartered in Atlanta. Players will be paid a salary and allowed to benefit from their name, image and likeness rights while playing “both within the league and in external competitions against domestic and international teams.”

No specific deadline for a start of the season or a deadline by when players would have to enroll has been announced, meaning that Mitchell could still opt to sign with the league and withdraw from Monteverde. For now, at least, that has not happened, which means a college career is still on the table.
