2021 247/Rivals/etc. National and Regional Rankings

yeah, but the SEC has been selling the "come play in the best conference in America with the majority of the top recruits in the nation and play against the best teams", and whether they buy into it or not, seems to be working for them too. And they seem to have made in-roads to having 2 teams in the CFP conversation every year too..... so I kind of like their approach better.

But I get it though, the regional pride thing has kind of subsided for me too over the years. As long as the Bucks take care of their own business, their Nat'l brand should keep them in the CFP conversation despite a weak conference (i.e. Clemson). But if the Bucks do happen to lose in a down year in the conference, they could get left out. All I'm saying.

Remember when Urban arrived? He eluded to the fact that the rest of the B1G had to pick it up to catch the SEC. I think they did for a few years but it's only a few schools. I'll be curious to see if P.J., Franklin, hairball, ect...., can consistently recruit top tier recruits going forward as more families continue to flock to the southern states.
The regional pride makes sense for the SEC because a majority of their players are from the south, and most stay in state or within a state from their home state. The B1G gets players from everywhere, and OSU can certainly attest to that. Hard to have regional/conference pride when youre not from anywhere near the place you play college. Ive never been a B1G conference fan, only an OSU fan. I'd be fine if the entire conference lost as long as OSU was successful. Im a person who's fine if scUM never became relevant again

Well, the 2 teams in the playoff is directly tied to ESPN needing the SEC and ACC conferences to be powerhouses.

Between 1980 and 2000 the SEC won (4) National titles, while providing the most players to NFL. From 2001 to 2020 they’ve won 11 times.

It helps when the Network with TV rights is also a massive partner, and they shape the narrative throughout the year. Oh, and then they schedule officials from the other confernece they have a network with, to officiate a game with a team that is in a contract with network that is direct competitor.

I’ve asked this to everyone I know....with no answer yet. Is there another sport in the world that has this type of arrangement? The conflict of interest is mind blowing......

Ellis says Bama will win the mythical recruiting title. He says a repositioning by the recruiting services and Bama saying they now will take at least 28 in this class will do it. However in the rating per recruit Ohio State will still probably win in spite of the punter counting against them.

I haven’t had time to do a deep dive, but 247 came out with their final rankings today. If JTT commits, he would give Ohio State 5 of the top 10 recruits. 12 in the top 10 (13 with Davis) and 18 in the top 247. Pretty darn impressive class

JTT 1
Jack Sawyer 5
Donovan Jackson 6
Emeka Egbuka 8
TreVeyon Henderson 10 (+1)
Mike Hall 36
Jordan Hancock 46 (-2)
Kyle McCord 48 (-1)
Jayden Ballard 54 (-3)
Reid Carrico 56 (-3)
JK Johnson 71 (-2)
Evan Pryor 100 (-1)
Tyleik Williams 123 (-1)
Jantzen Dunn 146 (-2)
Marvin Harrison Jr 159 (-3)
Zen Michalski 207 (+2)
Denzel Burke 220 (+2)
Ben Christman 223 (+2)

Raesjon Davis 69 (-2) would be only other commit possibly

Losing Latham really hurts looking at that top 10, but that is obvious.
