BREAKING NEWS: The Virgin-IAN has released their recap of the UVA vs. Navy game in Week 1

It was a one sided affair in Charlottesville opening weekend for the Cavaliers. Coach Mac's first game was a memorable one at that, with a victory over Navy 56-14. The Cavaliers took Navy by storm on the ground and by air racking up over 400 yards of offense.

Even though starting QB Marc Verica struggled mightily to the broad side of a barn on multiple occasions, where the wide receiver was WIDE open, the Cavaliers didn't need a stellar performance from him. Sophomore RB Torrey Mack, ran buck wild for 264yards and 3 TD's. I point the finger to Verica's promiscuous lifestlye, and the ***** that he always has around him when he leaves the practice facility. Coach Mac may need to see what that boy is thinking.

It was an interesting decision Coach Mac starting Mack, who was listed as third string RB in the Spring. He must have seen something that the media did not, but it payed off great dividends against their opponent in week 1. Overall, the offense played well, mixing up runs and passes, however there's much room for improvement with the passing game, which will need to be worked out with one of our rivals WVU coming up in a few weeks.

Ricky Dobbs also ran all over the field against the Virginia defense. Although the option offense did give UVA some fits, giving up 338yards of offense to Navy, it's not a red flag quite yet. That offense is a style you don't see often, and is hard to defend with the multiple options each play. Dobbs had 2 big plays (both for touchdowns), 32yrds/78yrd scores. While running all I could think of "STOP DOBBY" from Harry Potter, but no one came to the rescue as he scored. Dang you DOBBY, DOBBY dang you!!

The stats for the game were very comparable, but the T.O.P. It seemed like Navy had the ball for almost the whole first quarter, which they almost did because of the INT return for TD for UVA by Walcott. The rest of the game went smoothly, UVA scoring at will, quickly and mostly efficiently with only a few minor hiccups which can be fixed with one last tune up game before WVU.

Up next for the Cavaliers, University of Crackron errr I mean Akron.

HOLLA

Take a look at the Baylor Bears game recap...the first salvo has been fired
Why do you think my staff stays up all night gameplanning? Week 9 will be a welcome respite from that brutal midseason schedule.
Griffin for Heisman?
 11 rushes 0.9 ypc ... Doesn't sound like a healthy knee to me.

As for the passing & overall TD totals, congrats on statistics comparable to what backup QBs racked up during blowout wins by Miami and Atlanta offenses. Turner missed his curfew last night or he would have seen more time in mop up duty.
