Buckeyes look to get another marquee recruit. This time, it’s in their 2018 class.
Florida athlete has Ohio State in top 3
Jermaine Eskridge (Tampa, FL / Jefferson) was unable to attend Friday Night Lights this past weekend, but the Buckeyes are still in good company with the four-star athlete. Eskridge has narrowed his decision down to three schools: Ohio State, Alabama and Oregon– with the Buckeyes being the only school listed in which he has visited.

Eskridge is expected to be making his announcement in the coming weeks, and Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff could be in store for another "boom" soon.
Eskridge looks to play either wide receiver or cornerback in college and is currently looked at as one of the top 150 recruits in the 2017 class. The one-time Kentucky commit has found a surplus of scholarship offers in his lap recently, but if he does in-fact decide to announce sooner rather than later.

Ohio State really wants Emory Jones
Going into the annual Friday Night Lights camp last weekend, many thought 2018 QB Emory Jones (Franklin, GA / Heard County) could announce his commitment to Ohio State. While Jones did impress at the camp, he left Columbus without giving a verbal commitment to the program.
Jones has long been seen as Ohio State's go-to QB in the 2018 class. Early on in his recruitment process, it appeared Tennessee was the team to beat, but as of late, the Buckeyes have to feel comfortable with their chances. The 6-foot-2, 193-pound QB has been in Columbus multiple times this summer, visiting in June before attending FNL.
While Jones may have left Columbus without committing to the Buckeyes, he did mention it was "by far the best visit" he has been on, according to Jimmy Beck of Gradick Sports.

Jones impressed at the camp and he may have turned in the best production of any QB in attendance, including Buckeye 2017 commits Tate Martell (Las Vegas, NV / Bishop Gorman) and Danny Clark (Massillon, OH / Archbishop Hoban). Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts.com was so impressed that he claimed Jones the heir to Joe Burrows - who he believes will take over for J.T. Barrett.
Jones still has two more years left of high school football before he has to make a decision, but don't expect Jones to wait that long unless there are big changes in his recruitment.
Trevon Grimes set to announce in 1 month
Another important attendee at FNL was five-star WR Trevon Grimes (Fort Lauderdale, FL / St. Thomas Aquinas) who has been a Buckeye-lean for the majority of his recruitment process. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound receiver has listed Ohio State as his favorite school multiple times, and his time at FNL seems to have only made that bond stronger.
Grimes is set to announce his college decision in roughly a month, and they way he talked to Steve Helwagen of Bucknuts.com after FNL, it would be a giant surprise if he were to choose to continue playing anywhere other than in Columbus, Ohio. After the prestigious camp, Grimes told Bucknuts that Ohio State feels like home and that it would take a lot for another school to jump past the Buckeyes.
Grimes is seen as the fourth best receiver in the 2017 class and is one of two elite WRs that the Buckeyes are targeting, with the other being Tyjon Lindsey (Corona, CA / Centennial). A combination of Grimes and Lindsey would put Ohio State's already top-ranked recruiting class over the top. And the two have apparently talked about being a package deal, which would all but cement them both coming to Columbus.
Four-star forward lists Ohio State in his top 5
Kyle Young (Massillon, OH / Jackson) is one of the most important recruits Thad Matta is targeting for the Buckeyes. The home-grown talent was only offered a scholarship from Ohio State a few months ago, but that hasn't stopped them from gaining the talented forward's interest.
Monday afternoon, Young announced his top five schools on Twitter – and Ohio State made the cut. Along with the Buckeyes were Michigan, Clemson, Butler and Purdue. Surprisingly void from his list was Michigan State, who had been recruiting him as well.
Ohio State has been gaining momentum in the race for Young's services, which is more important now than ever before. After losing four of five recruits from last year's recruiting class, keeping an impressive talent like Young in Ohio is key.
Look for Matta and his recruiting staff to continue to pursue Young and be sure to keep up with LGHL for any and all updates.
