(6) THE Ohio State vs. (11) Dayton, Thurs 3/20, 12:15p ET, CBS

"Look out, look out - look out. Here come the Flyers!"

Hah, I remember that daggone intro from when I was a kid watching late night hoops before bedtime. That and channel 64 to watch the Bearcats were all I could get on my puny little black and white t.v. antlers. Was actually a cool part of my childhood now that I think back to it. Negele Knight is the best Dayton basketball player that I've ever watched and I did root for them whenever they played someone on my little t.v. Once I could watch Buckeye sports on t.v. at any point it was all Buckeyes all the time, like now. I can't say I even care about UD basketball now and actually detest UC hoops.

Leave no doubt Buckeyes!!

Sibert I guess felt like he wasn't going to fit in. He knew he would have to compete with Smith and Thompson for minutes for the rest of his career and he wan't confident that he would get to play a ton of minutes. So he transferred.

Thanks for anwering my post DZ. This should be a good game to watch, if Sieber and Craft will be matching up against each other.

Why would a Big Ten team schedule a home and home with Dayton? Obviously, it would be great for Dayton but it does nothing for Ohio State, for example. It's like Boise State insisting on home and homes then crying that no one will play them. Sure their arena is smaller, the money is less, and Dayton/Boise have a lot to gain and little to lose, but go play them in their house anyway. After all, they want to play a home and home with you.

That's not going to happen.

I was responding to the post from Litbuck about how UD didn't play a Big 10 team. I also said I wasn't accusing anyone of dodging Dayton. I undestand the economics of it, although OSU had a dreadful OOC schedule this year. I was just bringing up the fact that when teams from Power Conferences schedule Home and Home's with Dayton, they lose more often than not.

Speaking of point guards how is your point guard and will he be able to hold up against Craft?
UD is extremely young at PG. Kari Price is a sophmore and Scoochie Smith is a true freshman. Price is solid and can knock down open jumpers (40% 3pt shooter). Smith is more dynamic but makes more mistakes. Price has been battling turf toe so the minutes have been about 22 for Price and 18 for Smith. I would love for that to be at about 30/10 in favor of Price. Both are at about 2/1 asst to TO ratio but Price's outside shooting is the difference maker for him.

Most games are decided with 3pt shooting but this game in particular will key on that. UD has 4 starters that shoot 40% from deep. It's hard to cover all of them. That is what makes UD tough to defend.

If Amir comes to play, he should have his way inside. If Amir gets in double digits and OSU hits 7 or 8 three pointers, OSU wins by double digits.

If UD hits 10+ threes and OSU's shooting struggles continue, this will be a nailbiter.

With all due respect, fuck Dayton. I understand, unfortunately, we have OSU football fans who like - and in some cases prefer - basketball teams of other schools. I don't feel compelled to respect those teams any more than any other OSU opponent. When you take the role of defender of an OSU opponent - as you have done here - you should expect to be responded to as a fan of the opponent.

Also, I have been on this site since 2003 so I think I deserve a little more respect than some random fan who pops on the week before the game. I appreciate the discusion with Litbuck and others though.

I've followed UD basketball almost as closely as I've followed Ohio State basektball. I consider myself a fan of UD basketball, but that still won't keep me from rooting for the Buckeyes to win this game.

Is this a best of five series? If so, I think tOSU hits 7 or 8 threes for the series. If it's just 1 game, I believe the Bucks pull away without having to hit 7-8 threes.

I don't know if it's just the Christmas Eve feeling, but for someone like myself that, again, feels it is far more probable this team loses its first game as opposed to winning 2 to get to the Sweet 16...there I sat staring at my Bracket and debating how far to keep clicking 'Ohio St.'

For all the comebacks, and great stretches, I still look at this team and say- is it the team that showed up in those great 10 minute stretches? Or is it the team that played those other terrible 30 minutes for many games since January? Law of averages says this team is what it is and what it has shown to be far more often than it has not.

But damn, I can't pick against these guys...beat Dayton, beat 'Cuse. Go Buck!

Also, here are the NCAA tourney bids by Conference. It's not like UD played Wichita State's Schedule

Big 12 7
A10 6
Big 10 6
Pac 12 6
AAC 4
SEC 3

It's not like UD was a Final Four team last year and 34-0 this year, either.

I've not disrespected you. I've disrespected Dayton, and only after you started telling OSU fans how we should act based on losses to Penn State.

I'm not going to congratulate you for being an Ohio State football fan and a someone else basketball fan. That's not disrespect. It's disagreement.
