Don't forget Nebraska and Yale, they have 800 as well. Yale was the first school to 800 if my memory seems right. Who will be the first to 1000?

I DELETED MY POST! :tongue2:

Sorry, I heard on the Network that Ohio State would make the 4th... Way to trust Thom Brennamen! :(

Ohio State's next victory will be No. 800
Buckeyes' script for wins started in 1890; only 4 schools have more

By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER
COLUMBUS - It is tough to do something historic at a place where they display seven national championship trophies, honor their seven Heisman Trophy winners, and enshrine more than 170 All-Americans. When your first football game was played in 1890, just 25 years after the end of the Civil War, a lot of stuff has happened and the bar is set pretty high when it comes to qualifying any event as a momentous occasion. But on Saturday afternoon, the Ohio State Buckeyes will try and do something that only four other schools across the country have done - win for the 800th time. The Buckeyes have 799 checks on the left side of the ledger as they prepare to host Ohio University. "I hadn't thought about that, with so much else going on as we were getting ready to start another season, but that is something that's pretty amazing - 800 wins," Ohio State all-American linebacker James
Laurinaitis said.

Excited

I think the Ohio U game will be our 800th win, the only other teams to do that are Michigan, Yale, Nebraska and Texas and Notre Dame.

I'm excited how about you? :oh:

Yes I am excited but wouldn't it be grand if OSU got its 800th against USC or UM this year?

Go Bucks

800 WINS!

Let's take a minute to think about that.

Most teams haven't even started to think about that as shown by the number of teams that have recorded that number, 6.
Can one even start to measure the dedication that it took to bring a football program to that stature ? To be sure there were many people involved that their participation was merely a job but to the rest it was a burning desire to achieve, to push forward the program and the tradition here at Ohio State University. The home of our beloved Buckeyes.

All the countless names whose passion and intensity pushed higher and higher the standards we have today.
John B.C. Eckstorm
Albert Herrnstein
John W. Wilce
Sam Willamon
Francis A Schmidt
Carroll C. Widdoes
These coaches were the most successful of the earlier years. Not to imply that the others weren't just as intense about the game.
All of our most recent coaches have been extremely successful in their pursuit of perfection. And , say as you will but they all had the desire to be perfect, to have a perfect season, and to see their players graduate.
Even those in the background ,If you will, such as the Band , the cheerleaders, the team managers, Brutus and everyone else who has been connected with the football program since 1890 have exulted in our accomplishments. And strived to push forward our goals and traditions.

And finally the players themselves. Some were stars that shone as bright as the sun. Others fulfilled their rolls as role players , as scout team players, as 2nd , 3rd , 4th team players. Most never reached their goal of being a starter or a star, but they all reached their goal of being a Buckeye and most reached an even more important goal of being a graduate.
To get to play in the Horseshoe ......

We can name the the stars on the field but they are most certainly not the ones who did most of the work.
The fact is that everyone involved, from the fans to the Trustees are counted among the thousands who have pulled Ohio State football up from its bootstraps to where it is today.
People return time and time again to Columbus to participate in our heritage and tradition simply because they believe in it. Because they believe in "paying forward".
And this , I believe, is why we stand today where we are.
