  1. LoKyBuckeye

LoKyBuckeye I give up. This board is too hard to understand.

  2. BuckBackHome

BuckBackHome Wolverine is largest member of weasel family

Really quite interesting. I would have to imagine it would be very strange to be there. Like something out of a horror movie.

    Thanks for the link.

Ironic, the motorcycle license plate is "KIA" . Pretty amazing stuff and very sad.
  5. BuckeyeInTheBoro

BuckeyeInTheBoro This space left intentionally blank

That really brings it home. The woman who took the pictures is either very brave or very stupid.. either way I am glad she did it.

I hadn't realized how many people were affected or how long this will last (600+ years?)
  6. DEBuckeye

DEBuckeye It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.

That's incredible. It must be pretty creepy to wander through town now.

    Muck Enjoy Every Sandwich

Only eight years late but FWIW she was part of a licensed tour group...the claims of sneaking in unescorted were all hogwash to add drama to the story.

Now for the real reason I bumped the thread...

    NPO Energomash

A young Russian woman has posted photos of the Soviet era (and now defunct) Energomash rocket plant on her blog and claims to have broken into the plant...complete with scans of threatening letters from a Russian official.

No idea whether that part of the story is true or not but the photos are still spectacular (there are a bunch more at the link)....

Thanks for bumping this, Muck. I've been engrossed in the Chernobyl "tour" for about an hour now and been reading/looking at almost anything I can find. I'm a sucker for WWII/Cold War era history.

The pictures look like a real life version of Fallout 3
