Academics, Graduation Rates, etc

Just saw on ESPN (I know) that OSU only graduates 32% of black football players.

I would have thought it would have been higher, so can anyone fill me in as why it is so low?
All the data is old data.
It takes a while for the cohort / class data to roll on through.
Do not be concerned - things are moving in the right direction. (Exhibit A - gets his Heisman on 12/9 while still on campus studying for his graduate degree - he is not being counted in that reported 32% head count, nor would he have been had he left last summer with his degree).

ira guilford, eric haw, ej underwood, louis irirzary, early entries such as gamble holmes etc. quite a list of reasons.
Your list is not true in all instances and by all measures.
NCAA does not count transfers against graduation rate measure (APR).
Holmes was not an academic casualty, he was always on the road to a degree and still intends to complete roughly one quarter's worth of studies - in which case I believe he fits at least under the NCAA APR.
Lapchick's data as I recall does not align with the NCAA protocol.

Why were they discussing grad rates on Around the Horn?

because Clarret is in jail and hasn't done anything stupid in awhile

still seems a bit odd, were they talking about just our grad rate? I'm trying real hard not to put my tin foil hat on

I saw this on Around the Horn also. JA Adande was the winner and he used his 30 seconds to bring this to light. The first thing I though was that had to be a tainted number. I don't know why he would make such an obviously ignorant remark other than for shock value. There has been no other items to make tOSU look bad since TS took a little side cash. We've stayed out of the news across the board, put the #1 team with the Heismen Trophy winner (as well as other awards soon to be announced), as well as top mens and womens hoops teams who also have stayed off the blotter.

It just seemed to me like a stab to take down a dragon with a swiss army knife. It was a worthless attempt to make tOSU look bad.

The problem with this thought is that anyone who want's to believe it will, and will use it. just as Adande did.
