Ahmir Mitchell (WR Rutgers)

I'm with Wade, when I watch his video I just don't see a reciever. First off he's a heck of a 6'3" athlete who could line up at 4 or 5 positions at OSU. He shows some great burst out of the backfield at RB, and has one play at S where he closes quickly for an INT, but for some reason he just doesn't look explosive from the WR position. I don't think I've seen so many missed tackles in a highlight before. I see an situation like a Hubbard or Berry occurring with him if he comes here. Bring him in and figure it out later.

Mitchell is the kind of player you get jacked up to about 220 and move him around between the Z, Y and the H. He's got a unique combination of elusiveness, strength and vision. His running style is similar to Marshall and Mack: A little upright, but strong through the hips with great balance, allowing him to break a lot of arm tackles. Good spin move, good cutback ability and nice breakaway speed.

What really stood out to me is his ability to accurately track long balls, make body catches in traffic and take them to the house. Obviously, in the coaching world, body catches are not ideal technique, but the positive is that he has an outstanding ability to judge and adjust to throws while catching the ball at nearly top speed. He may not be a very good hands catcher or jump ball guy yet, but there is some big time upside there.

In my opinion, put McCall at H, Mack at X, Mitchell at Y, Hill at Z and call it a class at the skill.

I am in full agreement, especially on the film review but if we could secure the above I would like to see us swing for the fence on a major guy like Victor or Craig-Myers. That class would be set but it allows us to go for a top guy since the need would not be there. As for Mitchell, I would love to have him in this class ASAP. Not only a talent but maybe it helps with Gary down the road.

With how early this class seems to be filling up, I think that strategy can be used at a number of positions(LB, OL, WR), it's a great position to be in. Mack and Mitchell, and then swing for the fences with a national recruit, if we miss then move on to another position

I agree with both of you guys completely. Lock down the majority of a position group, then put your resources into a combination of retaining the commits and shooting for a top-5 caliber recruit as the cherry on top. Fortunately for us, most of the guys we are locking down are top-5 caliber talents anyway.

Visiting for Friday Night Lights per his 247 timeline & Bill Kurelic.

Curious to see if he participates...I think he may still need another good showing in front of the staff to lock up a spot. Personally, I would love to have him in the class but not if it keeps out someone like Victor (who might be a bit of a longshot but we are in the thick of it).

Rutgers Passing Camp: Recruiting notes
Rivals100 wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell has been busy lately. Over the last week he visited Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan, his top three. The Egg Harbor City (N.J.) Cedar Creek star's next visits will be to Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama in mid-July. Mitchell expects to visit those schools with players like Corey Bolds, Cesar Ruiz, Rashan Gary, Naseir Upshur and possibly Brad Hawkins Jr.. Mitchell is excited to finally see Ole Miss, a school that made his top six. He is expecting to visit Ohio State and Michigan with his mother. Those two schools are Mitchell's leaders, and he describes his recruitment as a "two-horse race." He could announce a commitment after those two visits but expect him to take some official visits.
