As I have said too many times, part of me has become cynical and almost apathetic.

Almost

Like Phil Collins screaming that he “DON’T CARE NO MORE!”, I am more of the mind that I WISH I didn’t care.

Then there is the side of me that is third generation Buckeye. The side that remembers the frustration of seeing Minnesota score a touchdown against the Buckeye defense; the side of me that remembers the joy of seeing Archie Griffin catch the ensuing kickoff right in front of me and take it all the way back down the left sideline (good guys won that one 56-7).

That side of me has been riding with the Buckeyes from frustration to joy and back again for over 50 years (‘68 was the first season I remember)

Assuming the Akron game starts at exactly noon…

1968 was the first OSU season for me, too. My first-ever football bet was 50 cents on The Game that year...and we scored 50 points to win. I hope we score 40+ points in the first half against Akron so we can get a lot of the bench players in the game...we're going to need a deep, experienced roster to go all the way to 16-0.

Does anyone know when game times will be announced / available? I would love to purchase a ticket and travel to the opener. I would need to evaluate the risk of doing it in one day. If the game starts at noon, it might be possible.

Ohio State's 50.5-point spread against Akron is one of six lines currently available at DraftKings for the Buckeyes' 2024 season. The sportsbook also lists the Buckeyes as a 24-point favorite vs. Iowa (Oct. 5), a one-point underdog at Oregon (Oct. 12), a 25.5-point favorite vs. Nebraska (Oct. 26), a three-point favorite at Penn State (Nov. 2) and a 10-point favorite vs. Michigan (Nov. 30).

The Buckeyes have an 8-1 all-time record against the Zips. Their most recent win came in 2021 when former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord started in place of C.J. Stroud and led the Buckeyes to a 59-7 beatdown in Columbus.
