Akron and Toledo Games Noon Starts
ESPN or ESPN2 will carry the Akron game - the first for new head coach Luke Fickell - and the Big Ten Network will broadcast the game with Toledo.
Five of Ohio State's 2011 games now have start times. Start times previously announced include:

  • The Sept. 17 Ohio State at Miami (Fla.) game - 7:30 or 8 p.m. on ABC or ESPN;
  • The Oct. 8 Ohio State at Nebraska game - 8 p.m. on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2; and
  • The Oct. 29 Ohio State vs. Wisconsin game at Ohio Stadium - 8 p.m. on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
No additional pre-selection of 2011 football games' start times is expected, according to the Big Ten Conference. The start times for Ohio State's other seven games will be revealed once the usual and customary six- and 12-day process kicks in starting with the games the week of Sept. 24.

So. I receive a small gift in the mail from my grandfather the other day. My birthday was a few days past so I was a little confused.

Opened it & 2 tickets, A deck (don't feel like being more specific)

I've never been to a season opener at the Shoe', so I'm very excited.

Happy (belated) Birthday!

(Assuming you actually got the tickets and not an IOU for the tickets) The Athletic Dept doesn't usually mail out the tickets until mid/late August. I didn't get mine yet, even thought I paid for them a few months ago.

Technically I have an IOU for the tickets - I know they don't get mailed out until after the summer. However I already have the seat information so that's quite nice.

If anyone from BP happens to be near campus or tailgating, I'll re-visit this thread in the coming months. Perhaps a meet up for dinner, drink or even at the game? My only question is, do I take the girlfriend or best friend? :oh:

Question is which would be more into all the tradtions and such? The game will likely be interesting for the first half and drag on for the second. If the girl can hang then you have to take her. If she will get bored at all, I'd do something special with her before you leave and take your friend. :io:

I would take my wife (girlfriend in your case) 99 times out of 100. That 1 out of a hundred is just for the nostalgic "I am a guy and I fudged up" situation.

The one good side on this coin is if your girl isn't a "huge" fan right now taking her could change all of that. I have taken my wife to certain events (Blue Jackets, OSU Basketball, etc...) and she ended up really liking them and became a fan of them. And she doesn't care for sports that much. The OSU Football experience has even greater effects I'm sure.

Nate, this is what I'm hoping for with my wife as I'm taking her to the Indiana game. Crossing my fingers.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing. Get done with work early on Friday and drive to C'Bus after a quick shower. Have some food and wake up nice & early.

According to her, the last OSU game she attended was against TSUN her sophomore year with a friend. (she didn't go to OSU FYI) She said 07'. Of course that's impossible because we played those jackasses in the shit hole up north that year. Then I asked if it was '06? - Her reply " I think it might have been"...

'Might' ???

:smash:

Folks that was 5 years ago. #1 vs #2. I can tell you everything I did that entire week leading up to the game... every little memory, which I will never forget. - Yet she isn't even sure if that was the game she attended. Not sure how long this is going to work out for....

So I realize with all the games I've driven down to see - I've never actually had to stay at a hotel. Always camped out at a friends about 10 minutes from campus.

That said. Anyone have idea's on good hotels? Obviously the closer to the Shoe' the better. I have a few in mind, but would like other opinions. Quality is what I'm looking for. Perhaps places you've had good experiences at?

Anyone? Greenies for the help btw.

Have stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites twice & recommend it. About a 1.5 mile walk to The Shoe, which isn't bad at all. Nice complimentary breakfast in the morning and then head down to the stadium.
