Akron RB Dennis Kennedy (official thread)

No offense, buckzip. My anti-Zip stance was formed during my undergrad years, when a victory over Akron was often all that stood between us and a winless season. Of course, occasionally Kent State would field a team miserable enough to be a stumbling block, but more often than not, the Zips filled that bill. Several perfect seasons for our Bobcats were gloriously disrupted by our even more perfectly awful friends to the north, so we fans (myself, two imaginary friends and a stray cat) held the Zips in the contempt they deserved.

Dennis Kennedy (Merged)

I just just spent some time on the phone with the running back coach at Akron.

He had a ton of praise for Dennis. One of the nicest things he said was, "I can see why Ohio State recruited him, he is doing things on the field that we have never seen here in Akron"

I have also heard, not from this coach, that the QB is having a very bad spring. I have heard that if Carlton Jackson works hard, he would have a good shot at the job.

Could you imagine a Florida backfield at Akron? Looking forward to the Akron Spring Game this weekend.

Dennis Kennedy

FYI,

Dennis Kennedy looked great today in the Akron Spring Game.
He had 12 carries for 81 yards. But did fumble once.

He is currently fighting for 2nd string, but I think will get alot of playing time this year. The starter is a senior, so I feel he will be the starter next year for sure.

Neither QB is standing out.

Getsy, a transfer from Pitt, has been ok. Jabari Arthur, was very highly recruited 2 years ago, but with Frye, he was switched to WR. He is very big, strong, and fast, but not very accurate. He may be a top notch WR in the long run. John Ferguson, a prospect OSU was looking at a couple years ago, is not accurate. However, he has a cannon for an arm.
If CJ comes in and looks lights out, he may have a chance to start.
However, I don't see it, as this is a very young Akron team, and I don't see a true freshman being the QB. However, Brookhart is trying to build a winner. So he may sacrifice a year of learning to build for next year.

Akron Beacon Journal

Dennis Kennedy, who initially signed with Ohio State but then was granted a release and enrolled at Akron last year, is making a push to move up on the depth chart. The redshirt freshman is listed as the No. 3 running back behind Brett Biggs and Jerrell Ringer. Kennedy, who ran with the No. 2 offense, had several nice runs and scored on a 76-yard screen pass Monday.

After making the catch in the left flat, he bounced away from a few would-be tacklers, cut to the middle of the field where he made another cut to avoid a defender, then outraced the rest of the unit for the score.

Kennedy was the leading rusher in the annual spring game with 81 yards.
