He said all those things, but he also said he didn't do a good job focusing the players, and he wore them out with his style of preparation. He apparently made drastic changes to how he prepared for 2015's CFP. He wouldn't have changed if he was just making excuses.

My son started buying himself two beers at a time when it got to 21-6. Then Ohio State started coming back and people in the section were bringing him beers. He was trashed and happy at the end of the game.

That's a pretty harsh denunciation. Why do you view the 2014 team that way?

While I didn't follow either team very closely (2014 or 2016 Alabama), it doesn't seem to me like their results on the field are dramatically different.
