Theres also the possibility that we may be fortunate to add to that depth chart the names of Jordan Hicks or Jeff Luc.

OMG, that's just downright scary to think if one(or both) of those guys sign with us! Our current roster with our verbals now is scary, but adding those two would pretty much just make every other coach in the Big10 wet themselves!

Hicks is your best shot, because Luc isn't leaving Florida.

Luc by the way is the most physically imposing high school football player that I think I have ever seen. He looks like an NFL linebacker right now, and that is not an exaggeration.

DePriest Says Offer Is On The Way | Football Recruiting Article

?They said they are going to offer on Sept. 1,? DePriest said. ?Coach (Luke) Fickell told me they are. I want to go to the Ohio State-USC game. That?s the highest game on my list. But I want to go to some other games too.?

When asked if he has a favorite school at this point, DePriest said, ?I want to sit down with my parents and talk about what conference I want to play in. Then I?ll go from there. I like the SEC, the ACC and the Big Ten.?

I've never fully understood the concept of picking a conference rather than a school. Just don't get it. Hypothetically speaking, if you love the University of Washington for the city, the academics, the campus, and the football tradition, why would you exclude it as an option just because its football team plays in the Pac-10? You aren't going to attend a conference for 4-5 years . . . .

I could see a geographic argument: suppose you have family in the eastern part of the country (Big Ten, ACC, and SEC country). Beside that, who know what makes a 16 year old tick? Things are seem important today might not matter tomorrow.

Ohh, I think we know the answer to that. :wink2::wink:

Springfield linebacker DePriest gains national

Staff photo by Barbara J. Perenic Trey DePriest practices with the Springfield High School football team Tuesday, Aug. 4.

SPRINGFIELD ? His cell phone went down, and his head tilted up. Asked a question about his future, Trey DePriest turned from silly to serious.

DePriest, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker at Springfield High School, has yet to play a down in his junior year, but he?s already gained national attention for his football ability.

According to several recruiting Web sites and confirmed by DePriest and Springfield head coach Rick Robertson, he has scholarship offers to play at the University of Cincinnati, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Central Michigan. After most college coaches meet him in person, at the high school or at a camp, an offer soon follows.

In a quiet voice, DePriest described some of the recruiting process Tuesday, Aug. 4.

?They really can?t offer you at the camp,? he said. ?They?ll talk to you and keep you after and walk you around. Then they call (Springfield assistant coach John) Cupps and tell me to call him.?

It?s easy to see why the big-time schools want DePriest. Physically, he?s a gifted athlete. With the pads on, he looks like a man pushing around boys. But that?s just part of what colleges want to see.

?The reason people like him,? Robertson said, ?is because, No. 1, he looks at you when he talks to you. And No. 2, if you ask him a question he can respond intelligently and understands what you have said. ... He?s a good student, and he?s football smart.?

DePriest just turned 16 and said he?s not leaning toward one school over the others. The attention won?t end soon, and Robertson said several more high-profile schools have visited.

DePriest is a two-year starter. Last season as an outside linebacker, he had 31 tackles, five tackles for a loss and four sacks. He was named to the Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division first team as a sophomore and the second team as a freshman.

This season, DePriest will move to inside linebacker and see more time on offense.

?They expect more from you now, everybody that sees you,? DePriest said. ?They expect a lot out of you, but they should. ... I have to step up and be more of a leader.?

Sounds like the author is either mal-informed or didn't do his homework?

Tim at mgoblog thinks Michigan has a shot.

Trey DePriest, 6-2 225, Springfield OH South. Yet another top Ohio kid, but this one grew up a Michigan fan. Trey likes Michigan enough to wear a Wolverine shirt to Ohio State camp (seen at right), but the Buckeyes are on the top LB heavily, and there will be a battle for his services .

also, it seems like tsun faithful are putting a lot of weight on the fact that DePriest wore an M shirt to Ohio State camp, is that even true? seems highly dubious to me

given his school colors, it would be pretty hilarious if he was just wearing a Springfield shirt and they are so blinded by hope that they have a shot at someone that they can't even tell the difference

I think I found the picture they are referring to (it was, shockingly, right next to the entry)

We have a pretty good source on DePriest and let's just say that BPRT feels fairly confident that Trey will end up a Buckeye when all is said and done. That being said, there is a long way to go when it comes to worrying about a kid who hasn't even stepped on the field as a high school junior yet...

Poor delusional twerps. I guess they haven't had the "Rico McCoy" experience as we did. Not saying I'm 100% confident about our chance with DePriest, it's too early anyway. But it sure is funny how scum fans bite on that pic like a dog chewing on a log of wood. Dumb...

That's definitely just a regular Nike football shirt in the colors of his high school. If it were a Michigan football shirt it would say "Michigan Football" or the word Michigan somewhere on the shirt. Not to mention it's a Nike shirt and Michigan is an Addidas school. My guess is the shirt isn't that old given how much bigger he's probably gotten in the last year so I wouldn't think you'd be able to find anymore Michigan Nike shirts. I do like the guy that's convinced even if it isn't a Michigan shirt that he's still making a statement by wearing a blue and yellow shirt even though it's his high school colors.
