All time best "low budget" movies.

Brawndo's got electrolytes...
There are a number of movies I like that were very low budget to make. Try to keep these made for less than $500,000. Bonus points for really cheap.

Here is a few of my personal favs...

Night of the living Dead (the first and original). Made by 2 Dennison Alumni. The most expensive special effects were oatmeal and pig intestons. Great scarey movie.

Mad Max - awesome stupid movie. Guns, mohawks and Firery crashes...what's not to love?

Napoleon Dynamite-made for less than $400,000. Fucking hysterical

Eraserhead - David Lynch classic. Made for less than $25,000

Feel free to add. Lots to choose from.

I agree with this list, especially NOTLD, but for me, John Carpenter's Halloween at $320,000...game, set, match.

Blair Witch would beg to differ....

Blair Witch may have made more money, but that comparison is like yesterday's golf comparison where the commentators were saying Tim Clark had made more money that Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer combined.

Never even seen it. Just seemed not worth my time.

Another movie on the low budget lists provided is American Graffiti. I think it is more a full budget film, but certainly is a fantastic flick. Well worth seeing if you have not seen it. Directed by George Lucas and starring Richard Dryfuss, Ron Howard, Harrison Ford Wolfman Jack and a ton of other future stars. Great 1950's period piece.

Martin Scorsese's early films were low budget, even for the time. Who's that Knocking at My Door? (student project), and Mean Streets were both made for under $500k. Boxcar Bertha was produced by Roger Corman for $600k. Taxi Driver doesn't make the cut at $1.3mil, but still surprisingly low.

Swingers cost $200k.

Hollywood Shuffle was funded by Robert Townsend racking up $100k on his personal credit cards.
