This is NOT directed at anyone in particular. Well, maybe jnjgrhm. I will be posting it on Bucknuts later.

Thread: I got served
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason I have Michigan sporting all over my posts is I got served by BrettGoBlue. Brett came over to the hoops form and was claiming he would bet anything on the Michigan hoops team downing Northwestern during their Senior Day. Brett doesn't strike as a trash talker kinda cocky but more subtle in his arrogance. I thought the Wildcats would win and I could get him to post with Buckeye sig pic and avatar for a week. Low and behold Northwestern does the job and now I'm sporting the Maize and Blue for a week.

Here's my problem with the 1 to 2000 post and jnjgrhm:

jnjgrhm is a member (Bucknut) since November 29, 2003

Right now jnjgrhm has 2046 posts (March 12 @ 11:22)
104 days & 2046 posts - 19.6 per day (post padding, no way to call it anything else)

From joining (November 29, 2003) to the loss of the bet (March 6, 2004) is:
97 days & 1645 posts - 16.9 per day (serious post padding, but hey whatever)

From the loss of the bet (March 6, 2004) to today (March 12, 2004) is:
6 days & 401 posts - 66.8 per day WTF!?!?!?!?! RIDICULOUS! You are NOT and Ohio State fan.

That is BEYOND being a man and paying off a bet! I seriously doubts if jnjgrhm is an Ohio State fan. There is NO, NO, NO reason to post that often, especially AFTER you are "forced" to display Michigan CRAP on your posts. Any reasonable fan would post less, or at least only post when you had something worthwhile to say. jnjgrhm has done neither. He has escalated his posting for the sole purpose of displaying that CRAP. He also has made comment that we'll all feel differently after he beats Brett in their next bet ... this only sets him (and us) up for the next "loss" and another round of viewing his CRAP. Anyone who thinks Brett is NOT a trash talker is a serious newbie and has NO CLUE what they are talking about.

Next point, the Bucknut rules specifically ask that: "if a photo is posted in a signature, please make it no more than 250x250 and less than 20K if possible. jnjgrhm's graphic is 299 x 250 pixels (not too bad), BUT 219K ... 10 times what Bucknuts would like to see ... and now over 400 times! This is a serious erosion of bandwidth, and must be a killer for any dial-up connection. Also, some seem to think that this is just a picture of an OSU player missing a block. Not the case, AND check out the file name: 20031122vsosu_ap_osu_crushed.jp. Again just throwing it in our faces on our own board. But only a few on Bucknuts have been willing to call him on it (me included), while others seem to think he is righteous for honoring a bet ... sheesh.

The 1 to 2000 thread is a vehicle for post padding. There is no other reason for people to simple drone on, and enter a string of numbers. On this board that used to be frowned upon, I guess times have changed. I will grant that is some sense, the General Discussion board is all post padding. But in most cases there is some thought, or humor, or insight that gives these threads some value. I like the RR and have been here since there were only 3 pages of threads. I have never once been critical of the different topics that are found here, or the members who choose to post them. I would rather not see the gains the RR room has made in the past year be turned into a forum that's sole purpose is to have more posts than the football board. Who cares about that? This is a fun place, when did the post count become important?

Finally, if you don't like my opinions ... DON'T read them! I'm really sick of everyone having a politically correct attitude on the General Discussion board. Statements like "If you don't like it, then don't read it" cut both ways. I have as much right to post my opinions, if you don't like them ... DON'T READ THEM. I think it is ironic (actually, hypocritical) that the majority of the folks claiming to be upholding the ideal of "free speech" are, in practice, doing exactly the opposite, by telling folks to keep their opinions to themselves if they don't like (or agree with) a certain topic. If you start a thread with scantily clad women ... fine. But be willing to accept that someone else might not like it and has every right to voice that opinion. Suckitup guys, if you want to BE big boys, you've got to ACT like big boys. Than means the possibility of having to defend your opinion if someone else doesn't care for it. THAT is freedom of speech. Just saying "don't read it if you don't like it" doesn't cut it.

sears......

and you are the only one who found mili's pick of the special olympics kid offensive......and you handled that well didnt you??

hypocrisy....

You can't see the difference between posting a pic of mentally retarded kid in an attempt to poke fun at someone and posting a pic of an emotional player the showing the agony of defeat?

Please. It's not even the same ballpark. You and tibor need to get a clue.

Hypocrite?

If something offends me, I'll let you know and I hope others do the same. I just didn't think the posting of that pic was an attempt to demean and ridicule Buckeye fans nationwide. To me it's a pic showing the disappointment Olivea was feeling after getting beat by your arch rival.

And I wasn't the only one who was offended, I was the only one that spoke up.

sears: "I don't mind their threads. I never understood why others rip someone for starting a thread they don't care for. If you don't like it, don't read it. It's that simple. Why do others feel it necessary to tear into others for posting something they don't like? Different strokes for different folks I say."

Although we've has some differences on the boards (both here and Bustnuts) I still think you're a pretty good guy overall and a great Buckeye fan. That being said, your approach towards these boards (as I quoted you above) is the exact reason why Bustnuts has gone to complete and utter shit. There are a multitude of threads over there that have absolutely nothing to do with football, let alone Buckeye football. If folks want to post stuff totally unrelated to football they can either go find another board or make the posts in their general forum. Bustnuts doesn't even look like a football board anymore. And don't give us that "Well, it's off season, so what else is there to talk about?" stuff. There's plenty of recruiting going on, the spring game coming up, Buckeyes going into the NFL draft, etc. I don't feel that the majority of the board members need to wade through all the shit threads on the front page to find a topic the were reading just yesterday and may have been pushed to the second or even third page. Then again, that's Bustnuts, so who cares any more?

the point is....sears....

you are not judge and jury for the definition of offensive......it differs from one individual to another.....

l.rod has every right to be offended by the picture of olivea as you do concerning a picture of a special child.....

remember your the one who got on l.rod........

you cant WAH-WAH on one side of an issue and then flip-flop to the other side when you feel like it....

if you dont see that logic......

3yds - you pointed out that jnjgrhm is in violation of Bucknuts own rules on signatures.

You need to understand that jnjgrhm is 'premium'. Completely different set of rules. He could proabaly call somebody a Nazi, insult other posters, and use multiple aliases so long as he pays his $8.95 per month.

(Of course there are limits. If he started his own site that allowed posts critical of Bucknuts they might delete all references to that site and ban him with vague implications that he had done something wrong. But that is just speculation on my part.)

I agree 100%. Now more than ever it seems that posters are given the leeway to post about any topic on any board they choose, which defeats the whole purpose of having topic-related forums. I feel the same way.

I just thought you were referring to the threads they created on the General Discussion Board which is why I was confused.

Why is the jackass posting Olivea's picture on an OSU board? Please don't start with the "he lost a bet" BS. Roger Moore is the only one who has sense to call the jackass out on that pic.

You must not have been there in the past when people were frequently losing bets to BGB (mostly online chess) and having to post with Meeeeeeeechikan sigs.

Although I will agree that the pix are a bit sickening.

Geez Oh8ch, I wish you'd have told me jnjgrhm was premium before I reposted on Bucknuts.

I guess I'll be on the "hit list" next.

G, I was there, and I can guarantee you that people who lost bets posted less frequently AND, none went from posting 20 times per day (very high number) to over 65 times per day (absurdly high) once they were sporting Michigan crap. Didn't happen. I fact I remember most people making one post to acknowledge that they lost a bet, and then saying they'd be back in X number of days when the bet was over.

I remember people losing bets and posting Michigan stuff, but I never saw an OSU player dipicted in an "Agony of Defeat" manner on an OSU BOARD for a bet that had absolutely nothing to do with that player, OSU football, or OSU athletic events. The picture is there for one reason only - to ridicule that player and OSU fans, and it is being done on a "supposed" OSU BOARD.

This is ridiculous (but rather amusing to read). It's a picture of a football player with his hands over his face. So what? You guys who are "offended" by this sound like those PC nazis who want everything turned off or censored out because they don't like it.

We lost that game. It happens from time to time. Get over it.

And what's this stuff about somebody's mom and Chris Perry's mom? That's nice, it's a very kind and honorable thing to do, but what the hell does it have to do with this?

By the way, regarding the retarded child picture, I've got to side with Sears- it ain't even close.
