Before I do this, I'm only 18 so I didn't get to see many of the greats play.

C-Bench. Obvious.
1B-Votto. My favorite player and although Klu, Casey and others had great years, I'm basing it on future best of all time here.
2B-Morgan. Obvious.
SS-Larkin. In the few games of his I got to see he was very good.
3B-Perez. I thought I saw that he played some third in his career so he goes here.
LF-Rose. Utility man, spent of his time at third but played about everywhere.
CF-Davis. Great player from what I've seen.
RF-Robinson. Obvious.

P-Seaver, Maloney, I have no idea for the last two.

Just for fun heres my lineup:
1. Rose
2. Votto
3. Robinson
4. Bench
5. Perez
6. Davis
7. Larkin
8. Morgan
9. Seaver

Gotta find room for Edd Roush (I'm older than 18). I was never that enamored of Davis.

Klu was one of my favorites, but I would still lean towards Perez.

Seaver was a great player, but did not have those kind of seasons with the Reds.

I picked Klu for a couple reasons - 1) Didn't want to simply recreate the "Big Red Machine" (I was contemplating picking Concepcion at SS as well, but Larkin was better, in my opinion), and 2) Just sort of a talking point. I figure most everyone would take Perez. 3) I used to have a Ted Kluszewski baseball card that I found in my grandparents attic and I thought it was pretty cool because it was older than me.

Yeah, he was better with the Mets, but 77, 78 and 79 were still very good years.

The machine was exactly that. I was lucky enough to have been in my baseball watching prime during that era and made many trips down to Riverfront. Simply an amazing starting 8.

My favorite Reds player of all time is actually another first baseman - Gordy Coleman. Not a great - he just happened to catch a young kids fancy at an impressionable moment. I got to shake his hand at Riverfront several years after he retired. Man had to weigh close to 400 pounds.

This except I take Perez at 1B 100 times out of 100.

My lineup:
Rose
Morgan
Robinson
Perez
Bench
Foster
Davis
Larkin

That is pretty much a Dusty proof lineup right there.

Have faith.. he'd find a way to fuck it up some how.

Well either Larkin or Davis would have to lead off because well, SS and CF duh.

Bench might need to hit 8th to avoid any base cloggage.

Probably too many righties now that I think of it, don't want to get caught with your pants down in the 7th inning by a specialist from the pen. Sit Perez and play Danny Driessen so we can get a lefty in there.

So that would be
Larkin
Davis
Driessen
Robinson
Foster
Rose
Morgan
Bench

That looks like one Dusty could be proud of.

Not enough Corey Patterson.

OK the all time Reds team is pretty uneventful. How about the Reds all time hacking mass team? Has to be someone who actually played for a while not some talentless rookie who only played a few games during a September call up.

Off the top of my head;

Jimmy Haynes
Jimmy Anderson
Willy Tavaras
C Patterson
Paul Householder was pretty damn bad
Eric Milton has to make this list when you add in the contract

more will come to me soon
