Amaechi - Hardaway (Merged)

Bob Saccamano

These pretzels are making me thirsty.

In a groundbreaking revelation that began to reverberate around the NBA on Wednesday, former player John Amaechi has become the first professional basketball player to openly identify himself as a homosexual.

Amaechi, who played at Penn State and spent five seasons in the NBA with Orlando, Utah and Cleveland, comes out in an upcoming book entitled "Man in the Middle" to be released later this month by ESPN Books (owned by the Walt Disney Company, parent company of ESPN).

Continued...

As long as he's not takin' it to my hole.

Someone should tell these people that most of America really doesn't give a shit.

I don't care if you're gay, straight or Janet Reno, just don't throw it at me like I should care about it or something.

Glad you came out. But I won't buy (or read) your book.

I simply don't give a shit about whether an NBA player (or MLB, NFL, or NHL player) is screwing somebody else's girlfriend, Paris Hilton, or a team-'mate'. But most professional athletes are so homophobic that this is still a story for the media.

Exactly!!!

It's a ploy to sell books. Hell the only reason I remember his name is because I confuse him, for whatever reason, with Don Ameche

Is it bad that Will Ferrell is more feminine than she is?

Most of America shouldn't give a shit, but they do. This seems to be big news on a lot of radio stations, to me, meh, I don't care.

Personally, whether you're playing or not I don't think your sexual preference should matter, nor should you ever have to bring it to the public.

Yeah - it doesn't appear that he was being held hostage to his sexuality. Honestly I seriously doubt that anyone other than your hardcore Penn State fan or your seriously crazy NBA fan would even remember him.

It's a ploy to sell books as BB73 said. The media will blow it up and I don't think anyone truly cares.

It is definitely a ploy to sell books...no one would care about him otherwise.
