Amaechi - Hardaway (Merged)

Wow. In the last couple of weeks I have discovered that both homosexuals and homophobes play professional basketball.

You could have knocked me over with a feather.

How's this for an appropriate reaction?

Hardaway Out

Shocking news (not!): Channel 10 said it won't rehire Tim Hardaway as its Heat playoff analyst because of his ''I hate gay people'' remark last week. ''There's too much controversy around him,'' Channel 10 general manager Dave Boylan said. With Hardaway in the news (but for the wrong reasons), about 10 of his jerseys were sold at a top Las Vegas retailer during All-Star weekend.

John Amaechi Comes Out As Former NBA Player

STOCKPORT, ENGLAND—British homosexual John Amaechi sent shockwaves throughout the sporting world last week when he announced, much to the surprise of his family and friends—in addition to NBA players and fans—that he lived a double life for five years in which he secretly worked as a professional basketball player.

....

According to Amaechi, who spent most of his NBA career on the bench and only averaged six points and two rebounds per game, he knew at an early age that he was different from all the "normal players" when he went undrafted out of college, was unnoticed during his first season in which he only played 28 games, and was never involved with guns, drugs, or shifty agents. Amaechi claims he never once had the urge to record a sub-par rap album.

saw that last week on another thing.

honestly does anyone care hes gay? i dont really see how it has any impact at all... im not sure why someone needs to parade around and say they are gay. its a personal life choice. just my view.

on the issue of teammates not talking to him anymore, i dont know the dynamics of the nba he claims they knew he was gay at the time. why do they need to contact him now? i mean i know plenty of people that i have thier contact info and i dont call all of the people i have worked with at some point to check in on them and what not...

"The 36-year-old former player said that while he's heard from everyone he played with at Penn State, he has yet to hear from a single former NBA teammate since coming out in February. "

Gee, maybe because at PSU you were a starter and you were a bench warmer and journeyman in the NBA. Do you really think Rasheed Wallace is going to spend his retired years shooting the crap on the phone with Darko? :roll1:
