Moc was suspended for two games by his head coach, LI was in consent trouble in high school and Troy Smith was involved with accusing St. Edwards as racist, besides getting in fights. OSUGrad as much as you post on here I can’t believe you aren’t familiar with some of the baggage unfortunately these kids came with.
Document these incidents and educate me please.

I gave you the Smith incident when he was in HS, but where do you get Izzy was troubled? Here is a piece of his official bio from tOSU:

"is an excellent student … National Honor Society member (2001, 2002)... has been involved in numerous community service projects"
Link

Clarett's issues were apparent because of this incident?
McDaniels tells a story about a minor incident that occurred while Clarett was a junior. McDaniels told his players that team meals were a requirement. Clarett skipped dinner, later informing McDaniels he did not go because he was not hungry. McDaniels benched his star for two games. ``Maurice has matured a lot since then,'' McDaniels said. ``But he is still a work in progress.''
LINK

Again, please provide me something concrete showing negligence in recruiting bad character. National Honor Society Students, 1220 SAT scores, etc etc...yet a kid rebels against a team meal and that indiscretion he paid for with two games should cost him a college opportunity? Sorry, I disagree.

I am a proud alum, and I remember the 1970s being as bad if not worse than they are now. Look at the mid 70s when OSU was actually censured by the NCAA. Coaches involved in giving recruits cars to use, money changing hands, etc. People just need to step back, take a deep breath, and get a grip.

L-Rod,

I know stuff happened in the 50's, and the NCAA hit us, but I don't remember it in the '70s.

And unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember that far back.

When a football coach suspense a superstar player for two games for missing a meal, just maybe you should open your mind a touch and realize that maybe the player had more problems than just missing a meal.

From two of my close friends in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><ST1:pYoungstown </ST1:parea they told me Louis Izzary was the biggest punk OSU has ever recruited. I’ll try to get him to come on and post some LI info, it’s pretty bad stuff.

No offense OSUGRAd but you pointing out the official Bio from tOSU athletic department is exactly the type of narrowed minded, blind following opinions that are making me upset. Do I think you’re stupid? No. Do I think I'm a guru? No. I have read many of your posts and have enjoyed them, I'm just trying to help pry open the possibility that certain leaders in our athletic programs might not be what we have build them up to be.

Why is former Coach Connley on the bitter side pertaining to JT?

What is really improved other than our record against Meatchickens/Bowl wins and a little higher grade point average? (This has come under fire, as well, regarding how we have achieved that increase)

How does JT know Baker? How are boosters getting so close with are programs and kids without the AD and the old ball coach knowing till after we get slapped again?

I for one would like to think that our programs are clean but after all this; I have to be honest and step back from the Kool-aid cup.

Well I guess you have limited experience dealing with HS athletes then...we sit kids for being late to meals, not tucking their jersey in during school, and a number of other "minor" indiscretions. It is all part of a learning process for kids. After we punish the kid, it is up to him to make the right choices from that point on...

That does not mean I would tell a college coach not to recruit a kid nor does it meanI would consider him a bad egg.

As for Izzy, you can have whomever you want come on here and post anything. I still do not see any type of documentation as in police reports or school discipline that would throw up a red flag concerning the kid. No offense, but you are claiming facts in hindsight while asking for incredible foresight. Sorry but it doesn't work that way IMO.

What?
You do need to step back from Kool-aid cup. Or at least stop spiking it.
I for one would like to think that our programs are clean but after all this;
So our program is dirty because of some off field actions by a few?
We are dirty if we take a chance on some great talent?
We should only opt for the 'virgin' type of recruit? No one for the program that has had any difficulties? Is this for tOSU or all schools? Who all recuited MoC and Izi? Those programs are dirty also?

Why is former Coach Connley on the bitter side pertaining to JT?
Do you really not understand why? Not a secret.

So you guys really believe that we are running a squeaking clean program and are making great choices? Just wonder how all these problems that we are having, has left you fellows so sure of our integrity.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it's dirty.
Any school is going to have problems and problem children and ours will be greater than others.
Until I see that our leaders are truly dirty I will back them.
I can't imagine JT or AG actually having their hands involved or being dirty.
I won't say we are squeaky clean either.

I know what you are saying. I don't know if this is a clean program, or not.

Unfortunately, there are alot of posters on this board that will attack you if you say anything remotely negative about JT, or the program.
Some people feel it is their duty to defend him against everything.
Some people believe he is beyond criticism. I love him as our coach, but I don't know alot about him.

We have had quite a few arrests, suspensions, and news concerning our program since his arrival. Perhaps it is coincidence, perhaps not.

I try to stay out of these discussions, because none of us know the facts, and none of us have inside information. But I too wonder why these things keep happening at OSU.

Call me crazy but...I will not jump on the bandwagon with ESPiN and NYslimes and acuse a program, the coach and AD of being dirty without any shred if info.

The reason many of us are happy is that this isn't a new trend. It wasn't being addressed and now it is. No coincidence, JT is in charge.

Damn I thought it was a good civil conversation. Not sure where you see anyone getting attacked but I suppose if you are looking to see malicious intent in a debate, you can twist it any way you wish.

I wasn't actually referring to this thread. I was talking in general.
Do you not agree?

See what I mean? I try to stay out of these types of threads, because these are very touchy to some people. Then I get in trouble for it.
I need to listen to my wife, and just shut the hell up..

Oy Vey...

What do you mean knee jerk?

You aren't talking about the threads over on BN that thinks everybody that ever said the words Ohio State Football should be fired, do you?

It's not that bad. I don't recall anyone saying the night shift janitor at the WHAC should be fired. Then again, I may have missed one.
