July 12, 2004 MIAMI (AP) -- Miami Hurricanes cornerback Antrel Rolle has been charged with a felony count of battery on a police officer and two misdemeanors.

The 21-year-old Rolle also is charged with resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct, according to the Miami-Dade County clerk of courts Web site. No other details were immediately available.

Local news reports said Rolle bonded out of Miami-Dade County jail, and officials there confirmed he was no longer being held. Rolle is scheduled to have a court hearing Aug. 2, according to the Web site.

Rolle is one of Miami's top returning players after opting to come back for his final season with the Hurricanes. He was projected as a potential first-round NFL draft pick if he had come out a year early.

Last season, Rolle was second on the team with two interceptions and finished sixth with 47 tackles.

Reply </TD><TD class=m vAlign=top align=left>Official Support for Antrel Thread <HR SIZE=1>Guys--

Anyone who knows Antrel or his family understands a few things--

1. Antrel is not the person that the news reports make him appear to be. He is a decent, respectful person that would not do and did not do the things that are being reported. I have no doubt about that.

2. Antrel likely feels a deep sense of responsibility and saddness that this mix-up (and that's what it is) has occurred and how Canes fans might react. He doesn't want to let us down. He doesn't want to let his family down.

3. Antrel si the kind of kid we want on our team. I wish we had 100 of him. This will be cleared up quickly. Let's show him some support because he deserves it. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Damn can't even make any lewd Miami comments about thuggery....hypocrisy sucks
I won't let something like that stand in my way. I see a fundamental difference between the approach of OSU fans and Miami fans, and maybe even between the two programs. While I will not even pretend to believe that the Buckeye program is above reproach, it seems that Miami is much more prone to making excuses for criminal behavior, while the Buckeyes are fairly intolerant. I realize I'm making a very broad generalization here, but all you have to do is look at Irizarry/Guilford vs. Williams/Rolle for evidence. Maybe I missed it, but I really don't recall anyone making a comment like the one above about Irizarry or Guilford. Then again, I didn't visit BN for an opinion.:wink2:

LEWD COMMENT WARNING!

He and Willie can room together
...and they can each ink a pair of hooters on the other's backside. It'll make it easier to pretend.

Where is bomb to shed some light on this travesty? I'm sure he could set the record straight on the Miami Chiorboys ... er, Hurricanes.

EDIT: Actually, that reminds me ... whatever happened to Wolf? Haven't seen him around for some time.

No, a felony against a police officer is by no means comedic. If it truly is a mix-up, then some cops are going to be in trouble.

This guy has been a stud for Miami. This could turn out to be a much more damaging loss to Miami than Irizzary was to OSU, because Irizzary hadn't proved anything beyond a dropping a gimme touchdown strike. Rolle is pretty much on everybody's pre-season All American lists and Miami was really depending on him to assert his leadership on a team that has lost a lot of its talent to the NFL over the last two years.
