We have a friend in NJ who's dad deals in high end cars in Fla, so we may start there first.

There appear to be serious and deep emotional scars that you're holding onto. I think you should buy one too.

most definitely will check out Florida. Don't want a car that has been driven in the northeast through tons of salt and snow
Agreed, but every region has its issues. Many of the Texas cars were flooded out, and lots of Fla cars have had hail damage from hurricanes. Most likely anyone who had a Turbo at that time stored it during bad weather. You don't find to many people who use a 120k car as a daily driver in the northeast. You sound like you can be patient, so I would do your best to buy from an owner rather than a broker. If you can find a reputable dealer who did all of the maintinence on it that could be OK, but you would not be able to get any type of Certified Pre-owned warranty on one that old. If you are patient and keep your eyes open you will find the one.

NYB - It is a little farther away, but have you thought about Arizona, specifically Phoenix and Tucson area for the search? There is no salt to worry about out there, not even in the air. (There is a little salt in the air in some parts of FLA from the salt water that surrounds the state). Also, the low humidity and rare rainfall lends the area to being a car owner haven. (I lived in Phoenix from '91-'94 and was absolutely amazed at the condition of cars out there.)

Prof - thx for the advice, which I think is good advice predicated on the weather there. In fact, I have thought about Az/Sthrn Ca area for a purchase, but it would have to be a really good deal, primarily because of transport costs. I guess I could drive it back, but that would really put on the miles, not to mention all of the speeding tickets.... :wink2:

I would think a car that old with as few miles on it as you are looking for would have been pampered for almost its whole life. for a 7 year old car to have less than 30k on it they would have only driven 3-4k per year. I would think that with that few miles it was probably only driven in the best of conditions, and stored otherwise. You could probably find one in any region that has not been exposed much to the elements. Most buyers who want a driver either by the Carrera or the C4 to be a daily car.

its funny how some people think that shit is fake...maybe not all true, but i wouldnt test me luck... i have family in the city and there and things and people that are unmetnioned.
Grew up in Y-town that shit is real.

Go on the internet and look up the type of car you would like to buy. Several sites (Edmunds for one) can give you a heads up on how much the car you are looking at is worth. You put in to their calculator such things as condition of car, features and mileage etc. It will then pop out a price range that the car worth. That is a good start from a negiotable point so that you will not over pay for the car.
