Thanks for the input guys. I stayed up last night until about 4 am working on this, and I nearly finished it. Going to go back and see how your guys' suggestions make it sound before finalizing anything though. I like what you guys said.

About the drums, the current drums are kind of there just to keep the song moving along and give me a general idea of how I want it to sound. I'll go back later and add fills, change parts a little, etc. The tom part does make a return though. :p

EDIT: Also, this track will sound much better with bass in it, haha. And vocals.

It's definitely a work in progress that is going in a good direction. It's obvious the focus is on the guitar work, as it should be, but the more you work with it, the more your character for the song will come out. Can't wait to hear some more instruments added and a polished product in due time.

Figured if I'm in this thread, I might as well share my set up as well. Fender "Splattercaster" and Marshall MG100HDFX half stack. Love the tone and style.

Didn't realize I never posted about the Vox combo tube amp I bought a few months ago. Paid $230 for it. Only 40 amps, but you can get BIG sound out of it.

One of the Valvetronix line, VT40.

Has 99 presets, and unlimited sounds playing off those base settings. It even makes the POS Squire Strat (bought it for my son to practice on at my place when he first started taking lessons) sound like a $1,000.00 guitar.

That's awesome- I like it. It's definitely catchy, but the cool thing about that is that it's not just some basic tune or melody that you'd expect to stick in your head. It's pretty complex, but still catchy. I like your guitar sound- what are you using to get that?

Sup fellow guitar players. Working on a song if you don't mind having a listen.

It's not finished, but it's getting there. It's metal. Recorded with my Musicman JPX and Axe FX II (which is the best purchase I've ever made, btw).

That paint job is awesome. Did you do it? If so, how?

The paint job is awesome, but I did not do it. That was the stock paint job from Fender. In the early 2000's they did a run of this style, and you can find many different colors and styles, but you won't find a large volume of the "Splato" Stratocaster. As far as I can tell, they painted on the surf green base coat, then placed the guitar on a spinning wheel and dropped orange, blue, red and yellow paint onto the body; much like what you'd see at the fair. The body is coated, obviously, but on the pick guard you can feel the textured paint splatters. This guitar was a gift and an amazing one at that. I've found out it makes a great stage guitar. It's a Mexican Strat, so it's nothing too special specs wise, but it will always get you looks.

Thanks for the comments. I'm using an Axe FX 2. It's a really powerful preamp that allows me to record directly into my computer via USB. I saw a few at some gigs and started researching it.. Decided to just buy one. Well worth the hefty price and two-month waiting list. Has a ton of authentic-sounding amp models, effects, cabinet sims, mic sims, etc. If someone says he/she can tell it isn't a tube amp, that person is lying.

Here's the final version of this song with minimal mixing. Still no vocals though. I'm bad at mixing, so I just try to leave it alone... I didn't change much, but I liked the way it flowed with what I added. Tell me what you guys think!

Way too bassy still when I listen to it on different speakers. Getting used to how my current setup sound in my room, it's crazy how much of a difference a room makes. :p

That track is fucking righteous man. Love the additions you made and flow of the piece. Very well done. Nice set up as well. Always blast recording music. Can't wait to hear some more.
