A nice treat...

Yesterday I went out and bought a Fender Strat!! I've been thinking about it for a while, and decided to go ahead and do it. The one I got is the Jimmy Vaughn model with the "Tex-Mex" pickups. Man, does that guitar sound good! Plenty of crunch if you want it, lots of ballsy blues tones, and the clean sounds (especially with a bit of chorus) are unbelievable. I'll try and get some pics up...

I'm getting the "new guitar itch" again. This is a '68 Les Paul Custom Tri-Burst Reissue (Guitar Center exclusive) and it is giving me an extremely firm erection. I've only seen one in person but didn't play it. I didn't like the top on the one I saw so there was no point in playing it. But from some of the pics I've seen around the internet, this guitar can come with a very nice AAA figured top. It's going to take a while to actually find one of these with a top I like so I'm not expecting anything to happen very soon. That's Ok though, the search is half the fun anyway...

PRS and Guild don't get the accolades from some, but I love their guitars.

I have zero experience with Guild. None of the stores near me sell them as far as I know.

PRS guitars are as good as anything out there. I've even heard their one or two low-end beginner models are exceptional for the price, though I've never played one...

EDIT:

I'm saving up to buy an acoustic guitar.
What can I get in the $600-800 range?
How is the tone of something like that?(bad question?)
You can get a Martin DM off of eBay in that range. I've seen them anywhere from $500 - $800. They normally list at $900 - $1100 in specialty stores. I bought one for $499 (or $599? -- don't remember) about three years ago. It's a great guitar, and the tone from a Martin is superb.

Same thing at Musicians Friend for $799 w/ free shipping:

Always check pawn shops first on guitars though.

Look for an Ovation. Not everyone likes them, but I loved them.

Just curious, are you looking into a classical or an acoustic? You strike me as more of a nylon string classical player.
