Any Runners? (10K or marathon)

A Pac, I strongly recommend you look up the Furman Institute of Running training program.

If you are doing more than two 20 mile weekend runs over a 4 month training regime you are just increasing your risk of injury.

That isn't coming from my group of friends, that is what you are going to hear from just about every training source geared towards first time marathoners.

Given that your schedule is probably set up for your 'long' run next weekend (if you are using the usual 3 week taper) it's a bit late to start fussing with your weekly schedule.

Thanks for the advice and I'll look into it. I appreciate the help.

Little confused by this. I've been using the Furman plan for the last couple years, and it netted me a big PR in last years's Cap City half. Totally agree that you should look it up. Thir book is called "Run Less, Run Faster", and it lives on my coffee table. :) But their marathon plan has a TON of long runs in it. 4-5 20 milers, if I remember correctly.

Anyone running the Cap City Half on Saturday? Besides me?

Not this year, but my wife is running, so I'll be out there. I'll be sure to cheer for anyone who could plausibly be you.

Good luck to your wife... I'm sure I'll see you in the sea of people watching the race.

Good luck!
Good luck to you too! Do you have a particular goal in mind? I'm looking to break 1:50, and if I'm having a really good day under 1:45.

Their plan for first timers has a single 20 mile run.

Essentially the weekly #3 Key run progression looks like...

8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 10, 12, 13, 14, 12, 16, 13, 18, 10, 20, 13, 10
