anybody else tired of "legal" big hits

That was a nasty clothesline. I read that Ferguson got feeling back in his legs in the ambulance. As for Darius, the tackle was clearly what the rules are trying to prevent. He will be fined at a minimum and possibly face a two game suspension.
Its good to hear that Ferguson got feeling back in his legs. Darius shows (thus far) an inability to own up to the intent of the hit. He claims that it was an accident, though live action and replay don't back up his version. Guess he is trying to cover his rear. Not only was he ejected from the game though he was escorted from the sidelines - good job too, didn't need another fracas with the fans or the other Packer players.
I was surprised that it took so long for the officials to announce that DD was gone from the field of play. Hope he does get hit hard by the NFL. There is good reason why this type of BS was banned from the game. Make an example, leave no-one in doubt that this type of dangerous cheap shot is never going to be tolerated.

Woa, woa, wao.. take it easy, there, cachi. Don't get your panties all in a bunch. As I said, in my first post to you - head shots aren't legal. So, your premise that enough is enough for these head shot big "legal" hits is inherently faulty. Who's the dumbass now, sport?

As for being cheap-shotted, if I may make up the word, don't you think that you presume a bit much based on a handful of words posted on a page here in cyberspace? Maybe tone down the big grand conclusions. Just a word of advice, take it or leave it.

The following comment is wholly absurd: "any coward can blindside somebody in the course of the game and the announcers will call it a legal hit because they didnt do anything to warrant a penalty." So, you come on a blitz, QB is looking the other way, you do what? Pull up because if you hit the QB blindside Nwbuck will think you a coward? Son, that's not the football I want to watch. I say you blow up the QB when you have the chance. Don't want to get hit like that? Watch your blind side or chew out your O-line. I'll leave you "Announcers will call it leagal because they didn't do anything to warrant a penalty" alone as saying more than just that would be construed as me piling on.

Think before you post. It's all I ask.

By the way, I already agreed that the showboating I could do without.
bkb,

i think he is referring to hits like the ones mentioned earlier. where there is an interception or a fumble or a punt return...and all hits are "legal". It's legal for warren sapp to blind side that guy from GB.....it was just dirty as hell and not needed in the sport.

if he means pulling up when youre about to hit the QB, then i would agree that he needs to stop being a pussy

thank you buckeyenation, that was exactly my intent at the start of this post and hence the quotes around word legal. i like to see a good hit as much as the next guy and any quarterback that drops back to pass had better expect to get hit on every play; i don't want the guy to pull up and not hit the QB. they do call most of the helmet to helmet penalties in the game and that is not what i am referring to either. what i AM sick of is those hits that seem to have no purpose other than to injure the opposing teams player. if you are gonna lay a good lick on the enemy why does it seem like it is always aimed at the head/shoulder area where no attempt is made to tackle the guy. it is all about separating head from shoulder as far as i can see. i was taught to play tough football where the intent was to keep the other team from scoring; not to see how many guys you can lay out and cart off on a stretcher. nobody knows how to tackle anymore so if seeing somebody laying out the punter when he doesn't expect to get hit or giving a receiver a concussion 10 seconds after the ball flies over his head make doesn't make you sick, then maybe i am a pussy. so be it; i just enjoy seeing people playing for love of the game and pride in their team and it's sad to see that style of play fading into oblivion.

I don't think he's talking about taking hits out of the game, just cheap shots that are out of the play but still legal. The problem is not with being a "pussy" or whatever but the idea that if you are going to take a shot at somebody it should be in an attempt to make a play and not just for the sake of blowing a guy up because the opportunity presented itself; it's called sportsmanship. I'll laugh as hard as anybody if a kicker takes a clean hit when in position to make a play but if he's out of it and still gets trucked then what's the point?
