Why anyone would pay $2000 for those is beyond me. Gold Pants are for players to earn, not for fans to buy. Collecting memorobilia is one thing, trying to buy someone elses trophy is just cheesy.

As far as I know, the entire coaching staff and some others in the athletic dept. recieve the charm as well. I agree with your sentiment whole-heartedly, though - but I thought I'd nit-pick a little. :p

Sure it would be nice to own a piece of OSU football history, but on the other hand, you're also cheapening the value of these. What do fellow bp'ers think?

Not really... It's a nice piece of OSU history that you can put in a collection. I could see if someone put them on a necklace and started wearing them around.

The only way to justify owning these, without having actually earned them, is receiving them from a departed father/grandfather/uncle or someone in your family who actually earned them. Though, if I had earned a pair, I'd want to be buried with them :p

1) Are you sure they are real? If they were, someone probably would take the time to find out which player on the 1970 roster had those intials (PL?).

2) you didn't earn em. This isn't like buying a jersey or something worn during The Game. This is like buying someone's championship ring...

3) not a big fan of someone profiting off of a trophy given to a player
