'Archer' Season 10 To Premiere In April

Archer is returning for his milestone 10th season - and we now know that it will be arriving in April. This was confirmed during the 2019 TCA's, which are currently being held in LA.

This isn't very surprising: Archer season 9 ("Danger Island") premiered on FXX on April 25th last year, so this is basically the same premiere plan.
.
.
.
Fans are also not too hyped that Archer season 10 will be another high-concept theme - in this case, "Archer 1999". The final button season of "Danger Island" showed sterling Archer seemingly waking from the coma he's been in since the end of season 7 - only to discover himself in some kind of a cryogenic pod, aboard a massive spaceship. It was suggested that this would be some kind of distant future, but in true Archer fashion, it could just as easily be the year 1999. Archer has always played it fast and loose with its chronal identity, injecting sci-fi and modern tech flourishes into what is essentially a 1960s - 1970s era. So with "1999", we're probably getting Archer's commentary on the futuristic possibilities of the new millennium - and just how badly we came up short of that potential in real life. This isn't the first time the show has ventured to such a fantastical location: Archer has previously had arcs set in space, underwater, and a microscopic expedition into a human body.

Some early details of Archer: 1999 were revealed during the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con - check that out below (via Indiewire):

"Archer, voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, will play the co-captain of the USS Figgis. Alongside him is his co-captain and ex-wife Lana Kane (played by Aisha Tyler); the two just went through a “nasty divorce,” so fans can expect more of their trademark heated (and hilarious) bickering.

“Lana is the co-captain and that causes a lot of tension between her and Archer because she owns half the ship,” [Executive Producer Casey] Willis said.

Mallory (Jessica Walter) will be the ship’s artificial intelligence and a “possible being of pure energy”; Cheryl (Judy Greer) is a hotshot fighter pilot, but she’s not happy about it. “[She] hates it. So she’s always bored with doing what she’s really good at,” Willis said.

Ray (voiced by series creator Adam Reed) is the “loneliest courtesan” in the galaxy, while Pam Poovey (Amber Nash) is a “brutish alienoid.” Finally, the former Dr. Krieger is now a synthetic android."

Season 10 premieres Wednesday, May 29 at 10 PM ET/PT on FXX.

‘Archer: 1999’ Review: Season 10 Can’t Be the Final Frontier — Not When It’s Still This Good

Archer heads to space for an "Alien" encounter, flexing its creative muscles yet again and proving once and for all: It's time for a Pam spinoff.

“Archer: 1999” is very much what “Archer” has been for the past three seasons and change: filled with lush visuals, quick wit, and inventive, genre-inspired storytelling. Paying homage to everything from “Alien” to “Arena,” the 10th season of Adam Reed’s animated action extravaganza travels to the final frontier in search of more material to spoof. It finds plenty through four episodes, yet the best means to asses where “Archer” stands in 2019 — and where it can go next — is through one of its original characters.

Pam Poovey is bigger than ever in “Archer” Season 10, even if she’s not exactly Pam Poovey anymore. Over the years, Pam (impeccably voiced by Amber Nash) has morphed from a crying HR rep into an underground street fighter, and further still into an ideal partner-in-crime (and/or partner-in-law, if you’ll excuse the phrasing) for the world’s greatest spy/outlaw/dreamy-coma-patient, Sterling Archer — she’s a coke-eating, drink-guzzling horndog who’s also a full-fledged field agent. Talk about a perfect pair.

Because of these savvy changes, Pam has also been an ideal benchmark for creative growth, and as Reed keeps pushing his FXX animated comedy to new creative heights, she’s been leading the charge each and every season. Pam’s predominance has become even more apparent since Archer shifted format to become a seasonal anthology, and this brings us back to Season 10, “Archer: 1999” and the introduction of Pam’s alien dream persona known simply as Pam.

I’m not really sure what Pam is this year — I’m actually more sure, if not certain, that we’re not supposed to know what she is beyond a big, strong, alien creature with the same jovial personality and love of crude jokes that have always been ascribed to Pam. She looks like a cross between Clayface and Groot, but with softer features and Nash’s charming intonation.

As a crew member of the USS Figgis, Pam reports to co-captains Archer and Lana (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin and Aisha Tyler, respectively), a recently divorced couple who share their merchant vessel and salvage ship under a court-ordered agreement. Along with them are the self-appointed First Mate Cyril Figgis (Chris Parnell), fighter pilot extraordinaire Cheryl Tunt (Judy Greer), scientist and synthetic human Algernop Krieger (Lucky Yates), courtesan Ray Gillette (Adam Reed), and the ship’s CPU Mother, aka Malory (voiced by Jessica Walter).

‘Archer’ Renewed for Season 11, Reveals Season 10 Ending at Comic-Con — Spoilers

The long-awaited fate of Sterling Archer was revealed to a packed Comic-Con audience Friday afternoon.

1008_10.jpg

“Archer” is returning for Season 11. Executive producer Matt Thompson made the announcement at the end of the series’ 2019 Comic-Con panel, following a screening of the eighth episode as well as the final minutes from Episode 9 — this year’s season finale.

“We’re going back to spying, and starting in Season 11,” Thompson told the crowd after the clip ended.

Season 11 will debut in 2020, per an FX release.

The final five minutes of the finale showed Archer fighting with his nemesis, Barry, in space. But as the two fought, Archer’s spaceship exploded, and a montage of highlights from the series’ first seven seasons began. At the end, Archer woke up — back in the hospital where the story left him at the end of Season 7.

It’s revealed that Archer is still alive, and his mother, Mallory (voiced by Jessica Walter), had been sitting by his hospital bed for the past three years. No other characters’ fates were revealed, but Thompson confirmed the story will pick up from there.

“We are incredibly excited for our 11th season and look forward to Archer waking up from his coma and returning to a spy world that has continued without him for the past three years,” executive producer Casey Willis said in a statement.

For the past three seasons, “Archer” has told stories that take place in the lead character’s mind while he’s in a coma. “Dreamland” sent him into a ’40s noir, while Season 9 took him to “Danger Island” and this season sent him to space, via “Archer: 1999.” Future seasons will be set in the original timeline, but the time jump should set up a fresh batch of stories for the writers to explore.

The penultimate episode, “Cubert,” will air this Thursday, July 24 at 10 p.m. on FXX, but fans got a sneak peek before the Comic-Con panel began. The season finale will air the following Thursday, July 31.

Earlier in the panel, the cast was asked to speculate on what their characters had been up to while Archer was in a coma.

“I think Krieger created FaceApp,” Lucky Yates said. “He’s stealing all your identities, private photos, everything — you don’t know what he’s going to do with it.”

“Archer” airs new episodes Thursdays on FXX. Season 11 is set to premiere in 2020.

Archer Season 11 Release Date, Story, News and More

Archer Season 11 has been confirmed by producers, with its lead character making a long awaited recovery.

Sterling Archer has been to quite a few places in recent seasons of Archer. Now he's going someplace familiar: back to life.

In an interview with EW ahead of their SDCC 2019 panel, Archer producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis revealed that not only is Archer getting an unexpected Season 11, it's also getting another radical setting change. Series creator Adam Reed previously implied that Archer Season 10 would be the show's last. But now Archer Season 11 is on the way and in it, SPOILER ALERT, Sterling Archer will finally wake up from his three-year coma.

"As we were doing these seasons of genre-hopping, we started thinking about how interesting it would be if Archer were to wake up to a world that’s had to move on without him," Willis told EW. "We thought it was so interesting that we wanted to do another season and explore that dynamic. In his coma we found out what’s important to Archer, and we want to see how he’s going to react when he’s back in the real world."

Here is everything we know about Archer season 11

Archer Season 11 Release Date
FX has announced that Archer season 11 will premiere on Wednesday, May 6 at 10 p.m. ET on FXX. The show will premiere the first two episodes then, which will be available on Hulu the following day.

Archer Season 11 Story
The first four seasons of Archer took place at the unintentionally unfortunately named ISIS spy agency in New York. The show then switched things up in its fifth season, Archer: Vice, which found the characters engaged in the drug trade. Then Archer moved to Los Angeles to open up a private detective agency in season 7. At the end of that season, Sterling was shot and ended up in a coma. The next three seasons all had imaginative settings that took place within Archer's coma dreams. Season 8 was '20s noir, season 9 was a tropical island, and season 10 has brought the team to space.

Now Archer is getting back into the spying game.

"We’re definitely back to doing spy missions," Thompson told EW. "But the roles and people’s personalities have changed. What’s also different is Archer is physically and mentally not what he was. He’s been in a bed for three years. His muscles have atrophied to the point where he can’t even walk that well."

How Archer emerges from his coma remains to be seen, but hopefully he's still the suave, obnoxious spy we've always loved.

September 16

“Archer” Season 11 is set. After delaying its original May 2020 release date, FX has announced a new premiere date for the latest season of its long-running animated sitcom. Archer & Co. will return Wednesday, September 16 to FXX, with episodes available the next day via FX on Hulu.

I was surprised to see my DVR tapped 2 new Archer shows last week. Apparently season 11 started on FXX last Wednesday at 10 PM. It is an improvement over the last 3 seasons.

Archer is out of his 3 year coma and they are in the spy business again. Actually the last 3 years the had been Archer's dreams while in the coma. Season 11 starts out with Archer carrying gadget spy cane that Krieger developed. A pumped up Cyril has been the male "alpha" agent and Pam is the only one happy to see Archer back. Regardless, they fulfill a couple spy missions in the 1st 2 episodes.

Is This the Last Season of Archer? Will There Be an Archer Season 12?
It’s a bit too early to say since FX has yet to renew the animated comedy for another season. But it seems pretty unlikely that Season 11 will be the end. The spy comedy is FX’s second longest currently running series behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and it has a very committed fanbase. It seems doubtful that the network will put the series out to pasture just yet.

Another ray of hope for Archer‘s possible future has to do with Hulu. During FX’s press day the network’s head John Landgraf noted that since launching FX on Hulu the network has seen renewed interest in its legacy shows. Also, overall viewership has increased for new seasons of its returning series. Considering the biggest complaint that most Archer fans had was not being able to stream it, the fact that new episodes of Archer will be available on Hulu the day after they premiere on FXX will likely only boost this new season’s viewership.

Is Adam Reed Still Involved in Archer?
This is the big reason why Archer‘s typically guaranteed future may seem a little murky. Yes, creator Adam Reed will still be involved in Archer Season 11. But rather than leading the charge, he will be taking on a reduced role.

Reed has been outspoken about wanting to leave the series since 2016. The creator noted that he only had a few more Archer stories left in him, the ideas for which led to the Dreamland, Danger Island, and 1999 seasons of the show. All of those seasons took place while Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) was in a coma, by the way. But in July of 2019 FX surprise announced that there would be another season of the show set to premiere in 2020.

Instead of being run by Reed this new season will be orchestrated by showrunner Casey Willis and executive producer Matt Thompson. Both of these creatives have been working closely with Reed for the past 15 years, so they’re well versed about when to use phrasing. Reed will still be involved in the comedy to voice Ray and serve as an executive producer.

What Is Archer Season 11 About?
Fitting for this big transition, Season 11 will also see a major formatting change. This will be the first season in three years that will follow Archer after he wakes up from his coma. It will also be the first season since Season 5’s Archer: Vice to see the team return to being a spy agency. Get ready for some classic shenanigans and some truly impressive celebrity cameos including Pamela Adlon, Simon Pegg, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Season 11 of Archer premieres on FXX Wednesday, September 16 at 10/9c p.m. with two new episodes. Those first two episodes will then be made available on Hulu the following day, Thursday, September 17. New episodes of the series will premiere on Wednesdays on FXX and Thursdays on Hulu.

Archer Season 12 Premiere Date Revealed

Archer fans were devastated earlier this year when Jessica Walter, voice of Malory Archer on the series, passed away, though we're lucky enough to get another glimpse at her hilarious character in the upcoming Season 12 of the animated series, which just got a Wednesday, August 25th premiere date. With the actor having passed away just two months ago, and with the Archer executives not having to mention how the show would be impacted, Walter likely completed her work on this season before her passing. It's unknown what this will mean for the future of the series, but fans will surely relish this upcoming new season, which premieres on Wednesday, August 25th on FX.
