Archie makes it to Hawai'i

I am an alum

The only thing that pissed me off tonight was the fact the main Alumni Association flew him coach to Hawaii and back. That's right...they flew their President, the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner, and the university's biggest ambassador, in coach. How frickin' tacky is that? Not only that, but he was here for just under 24 hours, so how in the hell is he supposed to be rested for his scheduled speaking engagement tomorrow night back in Ohio? Total, unadulterated bullshit.

And you don't know the half of it. Let's see of your comments you posted above which are a complete farce because obviously you missed half of his speech. Archie IS the President and CEO of the "Main" Alumni Association. In other words the only Alumni Association.

So one would be led to believe that he can dictate his flights so one would be able to tell that he chose to fly coach. I'm sure he makes his decisions if he wants to stay overnight it isn't a three hour flight from Hawaii.

Once again he is the PRESIDENT and CEO of this so called tacky Alumni Association that is a dues paying membership based separate from the University. Archie is the Alumni Association so when you are dogging it you are dogging on him.

And don't call me out saying I am some new guy I've seen your posts. This is the time I am finally fed up with misinformation and wanted to correct it!<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

mcmoron, I was there and heard what our local president said. Archie does NOT do his own scheduling...what president or CEO of a large organization does? He has a staff that does all of his event scheduling for him. You think he has time to sit around and call up airlines for a seat?! He is so busy that it would be physically impossible for him to do so. If you're the proud member of the association as you claim you are, then you would know that it is the third largest college alumni association in the country, behind Penn State and Illinois, and as such he could not possibly be his own staff.

As for "missing half the speech", were you even there? If so, PM me with your name and I'll tell you who I am, and we can cross validate each other's attendance there. If not, then I suggest you should keep your yap shut, because you are clueless as to what went on.

Finally, I'm not dogging the Alumni Association as a entity, just the knuckleheads that flew their president and our two-time Heisman winner frickin' coach for a 9,000+ roundtrip in a 24-hour timeframe. So, if you're going to call me out, Nancy boy, you better have your facts straight.

I guess everybody posts on topics they really have no clue what they are talking about once in awhile. Even Mili

I think you better come up with some proof to counter my original post before calling me clueless.

Glad you got to meet Archie, Mili. I'm guessing that in Hawaii you don't get that chance too often. I've met him twice- once at an autograph signing, and once at the spring game. You're right, he is an incredibly nice guy- very down to earth. At the spring game, my friend and I saw Archie walking around and paused real quick to say hi. We figured he'd keep right on moving to get somewhere, but he stopped to shake our hands and chat for a few minutes. He didn't have to do that, but that's the kind of guy he is- he took a few minutes to be nice, and made our day.

You guys look up the price difference btwn. a 1st class ticket to Hawaii and a coach seat and you'll see why he flew coach. I just checked travelocity and a coach ticket is $928 and a First Class is about $2200.

With as much as OSU says they're hard up for money these days, from a PR standpoint it makes sense for him to fly coach or people would really be pissed, even with it being Archie.

Who says Archie didn't request to fly coach? I wouldn't put it by him.

I remember people saying they've seen Tressel on flights before and he was flying coach.

The Alumni Association is not affiliated with tOSU monetarily. But I agree that when Archie's staff asked him about his preferences he elected to go coach and told them what days he wanted to fly there and back. Maybe he HAD to be back in Columbus that next day. It costs more if you don't spend a few days at your destination anyways. The way people make it sound, they handed him the ticket as he got on board and ran away before he noticed he was on coach.
