Arizona State assistant men's basketball coach Archie Miller is expected to join Ohio State coach Thad Matta's staff.

Miller, who was on the ASU staff last year for coach Herb Sendek's first season in Tempe, has been considering the move since a shuffle on the Ohio State staff.

Miller, who played for Sendek at North Carolina State, cannot comment until a deal is done.

Dispatch

Thad Matta won't venture away from his coaching tree to fill the vacancy on his Ohio State men's basketball staff.
Arizona State assistant Archie Miller is Matta's choice to round out his trio of assistants, which he shuffled last week by moving Dan Peters into the newly created job of associate director of basketball operations. An announcement is expected soon.
Miller is the younger brother of Xavier coach Sean Miller, who was Matta's top assistant at Xavier and succeeded him when Matta left for Ohio State in 2004. Archie played at North Carolina State and currently works for Herb Sendek, who gave Matta his first assistant-coaching job in 1994 at Miami University. OSU assistant John Groce also worked for Sendek before joining Matta at Butler in 2000.

I would have preferred Jent but who am I to second-guess Matta. I also think that Jent might not want to come back to the college scene as an assistant. Saying that, Archie has some good pedigree in him and has been around.

Archie Miller Added to Men's Basketball Staff

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Thad Matta, Ohio State head men's basketball coach, announced the hiring of Archie Miller to fill a vacancy on the Buckeye coaching staff. Miller, who spent last season at Arizona State as an assistant coach, will assume duties as one of Matta's assistants immediately.

Miller said accepting the opportunity to be part of the Ohio State program was an easy decision.

"It's an honor to join Coach Matta' staff," Miller said. "Ohio State right now with the ground work they've laid and the product put out on the floor is amazing. It's humbling for me and I'm sure it will be a great experience to be a part of Coach Matta's program."

Miller will assist John Groce, associate head coach, and assistant Alan Major in all areas of the program's operation.
"Coach Matta does a great job in communicating with his staff and players," Miller said. "My role will be an involvement in every facet of the program. I hope to add value in any way they want me to."

Yeah Jent wasnt going anywhere, unless it was a head coaching job somewhere...

I like the hire of Miller....Another young energetic guy to go along with Groce and Major...
Two good points.
Jent has been solid for Basketball since forever it seems like. Intensity all along the way. JMO he will be a good head coach too.
Miller seems like a good hire, should have a lot of enthusiasm in him.
I hope he succeeds here.

Sean Miller was only the first from his family to head to Arizona.

Miller, who was hired last week as the head basketball coach at Arizona, will name his brother, Archie, to his staff, according to their father.

John Miller, the former Blackhawk coach who mentored both his sons in high school, said that Archie is likely to be Sean?s top assistant. He is currently the second assistant at Ohio State under Thad Matta.
