Arkansas RB Jonathan Williams will not play in 2015

Few teams have accumulated the kind of depth at running back the way Arkansas has under head coach Bret Bielema. The Razorbacks will need it.Jonathan Williams will not play during the 2015 season, Bielema announced Monday.

The senior running back must undergo surgery on his left foot. The procedure figures to keep him off his feet, at least running on them, through December. In all likelihood, that could mean his career is over at Arkansas, although there is always room for a potential return for a bowl game. He can also still use a redshirt to come back and play one more season next fall, which may be advisable after deciding to skip out on the NFL this year in order to return to Arkansas.

Hogs P Blake Johnson arrested after taking a leak on a light pole

Just last month we were espousing the virtues of a Bret Bielema-run Arkansas football program that had seen just two of his Razorbacks arrested since he took over in December of 2012. That’d qualify as an oops as, the last two days, Bielema has seen that number double.

First, tight end C.J. O’Grady, on a scooter no less, was arrested and charged with, among other things, driving while intoxicated. A day later, another Razorback was popped for an alcohol-related incident.

According to KFSM-TV in Fayetteville, Blake Johnson was arrested very early Saturday morning and charged with public intoxication, minor in possession and disorderly conduct. The incident that led to the charges?

According to a police report, Johnson was found urinating on a light pole in a university parking lot at 1:39 a.m. by an officer. When the officer approached him and asked why he was urinating on the light pole, he responded “because I needed to go.”

Just sayin': I would like to, but won't comment here; 2 Ohio State players (Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort) did something just as stupid a few years (2012) ago.

You have to ask yourself what other reason the officer thought might have led to the act.

The picture choice for the article made me laugh. I'm sure it didn't end well for the guy if he was trying to piss on the actual lights, regardless of the arrest.

Convicted of federal drug charge, former Arkansas RB Cedric Cobbs says he is dealing with CTE

Former Arkansas running back Cedric Cobbs plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and other narcotics in a United States District Court on Thursday, but was granted a no-prison sentenced because Cobbs told the judge he is undergoing treatment for brain disease.

He was sentenced to three years of probation contingent upon continuing treatment for drugs and mental health counseling.

According to Eric Bolin of Arkansas News, Cobbs is a patient at The Crosby Center, an Escondido, Calif., treatment center that claims to be “recognized as one of the nation’s foremost sports treatment centers for helping athletes reclaim their lives.” Bolin writes Cobbs is battling CTE, which Boston University says may only be diagnosed posthumously.

I actually like the concept/idea; however, a "SEC degree" (with the possible exception of Vanderbilt) just identifies the players that actually qualifies for a job at McDonalds.
