Atlanta Braves (4x World Series Champions)

I agree about Zito, but at least he is still pitching, even if he is just average at best. Take a Hampton or Pavano and the guys never even saw the mound.

Where I will say the Nationals are cat-poop stupid is in thinking Werth was a good replacement for Dunn. I mean they still sucked, but they won some games and Dunn hit the facade of the upper deck a few times, so it was an entertaining team to watch. Now it's a bunch of pee-sitting hitters who can't get the ball to the warning track and a pitching staff that will still give up 5 runs a game.

I don't see him putting up those kind of numbers either...don't quite know how you overlooked that in my post.

In terms of sheer excitement and hype, Jason's right on par with Albert's rookie season.

I'm expecting a season somewhere right in the middle of what Andruw Jones did his first full season in '97 and what Albert Pujols did in his rookie year. Something along the lines of [.273BA, 28HR, 100RBI, 86R, 32 2B]. That would be an absolutely PHENOMENAL year...and would definitely be worthy of ROY...but watching him play in the minors and seeing his progression over the past 2 years...I truly expect he can do it.

.275/20/80 would be about my guess, and that would be a phenomenal rookie campaign. This is a really, really big transition. It's not often that a rookie puts up better numbers than that.

By the way--

Heyward's final line last year: .277/18/72.

This season, I bet TheRob is expecting something right in the middle of what Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio did in their second years.

Terrible infield fly rule call, but it's not a justification for throwing beer bottles on the field.

I just want to see a meteor hit the field right about now. Fuck both of these teams.

Weird that the umpires in this Braves-Cardinals game just credited Golden Tate with a base hit.

The Cardinals haven't seen this many beer bottles on the field since Tony La Russa was their manager.
Timothy Burke ‏@bubbaprog
Don't blame Braves fans, they were just trying to make Turner Field look like the rest of downtown Atlanta.
Fausto Carmona ‏@TheRealFausto55
St. Louis should try to run a play real fast before the umpires review this.
Brandon McCarthy ‏@BMcCarthy32
So in the infield? RT @Ken_Rosenthal STL fielders gathered in short CF to escape debris coming from stands.

This is actually how The Walking Dead started before they scrapped the original plot.

Flipping out over the bad infield fly call is easier for Braves fans than flipping out over committing 3 errors in the biggest game of the season. They gave away 3 unearned runs. Ball game.

The protest will go nowhere. Cards advance. Go Nationals.
