Recruiting
Spartans to host prospect for 2011
BY MATT DORSEY
FREE PRESS SPECIAL WRITER

Cleveland Glenville offensive lineman Aundrey Walker: At 6-5 and 335 pounds, Walker is one of the biggest offensive line prospects in the nation. MSU was the first Big Ten school to offer Walker a scholarship and now Illinois and Indiana have followed suit. The Spartans would love to break that Ohio State pipeline that seems to run from Glenville to Columbus. Getting Walker on campus early is key to building the necessary rapport.

Found out he has an OSU offer while attending their junior day with teammates Shane Wynn & Cardale Jones... Had a great time joking around with Tressel... Feels humble & blessed but would still like to get offers from Texas & Southern Cal... Wants to talk things over with Coach Ginn & his mom before goin any further...

Ohio State & Michigan St. have been his favorites since he began playing football... Will most likely go through the process like other Glenville recruits...

Walker picks up Buckeye offer

Brian Snow

The coaches told him he's had an offer for some time but he somehow never received it... Had a great time touring the facilities & spending time with the coaches... Really enjoyed the Army combine & was told he was one of the top OL in attendance... No talk of favorites or timeframe...

Love the offer, Walker is a beast. Imo, he will likely be a top 10 interior OL nationally. Glenville is ripe for the pickins next year.

Disagree. Walker is a project in all senses of the word. He has plenty of work to do to get ready...however, he was blessed with the one thing that cannot be coached. He will likely get the top-10 status due to namebrand value, but he needs to commit himself to meeting his potential.

I can't tell if your comment meant you disagree he has top 10 potential or disagree that he is top 10 right now... Recruit rankings are based on potential just as much (probably more) as how good they are right now.

You really believe that?

Recruiting rankings serve no purpose whatsoever other than to sell subscriptions to websites.

Back to Walker...agree with grad's assesment 100%.
