The Buckeyes open play at Bill Davis Stadium this weekend with a 3 game set against Austin Peay.

The Governors are currently 9-7 overall (#184 in the RPI)

They are led on the mound by SO RHP Ryan Quick (4 S 1-0 26.0 IP 2.08 ERA 20K/16BB) and at the plate by SR 3B Greg Bachman (.358 6 HR 18 RBI)

Game Times- Friday: 5 PM EST Saturday: 3 PM EST Sunday: 1 PM EST

This weekend will be treated like a mock B1G series by the staff. Long, King, and Mckinney will go this weekend and that will most likely be our weekend rotation going into B1G play.

Austin Peay is a solid club and were the preseason Ohio Valley favorites.

I can't believe we won that one! The Bucks left 10 men on base in innings 9-12 before Deezse finally ended it. A lot of bad at bats by our boys late in the game...and some bad defense, too. But good pitching bailed us out yet again.

Long was solid once again, but Beals was slow with the hook, imo...Long should have never faced Bachman in the 8th. Kuchno was fantastic in relief, and by my count he's worked 16 consecutive scoreless inning. It's great having pitching depth...we have 5 legit starting pitchers on this team, and i can't remember the last time i could say that..

The strength of Austin Peay appears to be their bullpen and today's extra innings negated that advantage a bit. Other than Quick, their starters don't generally give them innings so they rely heavily on their pen, and they used up two of their better arm today(including their closer). They basically conceded when they brought in Edlin in the 13th..they had better arms, but they had to hold them back.

Saturday: King vs Toney (1-2, 5.91 ERA)

Greve actually threw very well. This is one of those times when the box score doesnt tell the tale. Greve threw 15 pitches total in the 8th and 9th. The walks in the 10th were intentional and hits he gave up in the 10th were a bloop single and a ball that hit off his shoe. Greve was only pulled to keep his pitch count down because we will need him for a midweek start. Semantics i guess, but i thought Greve looked pretty dang good, fwiw. Dempsey didn't throw all that bad. A hit, a squeeze bunt, an error, and next thing you know 4 runs had scored. We were really sloppy in the field behind Dempsey..can't believe we were only credited with one error in the 10th.

Anyway, tough loss...hitting was lousy. Beals juggled the lineup again today, but it didn't help. Also, The run that Austin Peay scored to send it to extra innings was unearned. Solomon made a great throw to 3B that shoulda been a CS to end the inning, but Hallberg lost control of the ball on the tag. Fath then induced a grounder, but Pellant was unable to complete what would have been a nice play by making the flip to cypret for the force. E5

Need a great start from McKinney tomorrow. I'm thinking Peay may throw Lucas Anderson (2-0, 2.70) tomorrow.

Bucks win it 7-3. The guys were much more patient today at the plate and it paid off. Everybody really hit the ball well today. Bucks K'd a season low twice today. Great to see Corna get on track, and Brad Hutton was impressive at the plate and in the field over these past two games.

McKinney was outstanding....again 7.1 1ER 5h 1BB 7ks

Great to see our starters continue to throw well.

2 more errors today...9 for the series.

Good series win...Tough test at Louisville on tuesday. I think Kuchno will get the start.

Also wanted to add that Austin Peay's OF was fantastic today. They can really cover a lot of ground. Made several good plays today to rob Buckeyes of extra bases.

Wetzel in particular hit he ball well-- but chased down by the OP OF. OP RF looked like a player but that one throw to the plate was weak (being kind). I was actually expecting a little more from OP. OSU offense looks very similar to the offense I've seen for the past 7-8 year
