Author Maurice Sendak dead at 83

Truly an icon in the world of young-person's literature. My daughter just got introduced to "Where the Wild Things Are" last week, and she loves it, but he did so much more great work beyond that. He illustrated books for so many great children's writers from the 50's to now, particularly Ruth Krauss.

"Outside Over There" is about as weird and creepy as kids' books get, and it was supposedly the inspiration for the movie Labyrinth.
